Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainThe hotel offers a very standard experience for the cost of the room. No one ever replied to my questions to the hotel through Booking, despite writing to them in Japanese and trying to make contact a couple of time. Breakfast and dinner are two big, chaotic all-you-can-eat set ups with 0 social distance, and mostly cold food that is not supposed to be cold (fried potatoes, fried croquettes, hamburgers). Plenty of Japanese food, but everything is cooked together, so if you have allergies I do not recommend paying for meals here. Some dishes are heated, but none of the food was actually delicious. They do not pack breakfast to go, and do not allow you to take any food outside of the dining hall, not even one croissant. The baths are spacious but the hotel was so crowded it was impossible to relax among the sound of countless children crying, and the noise of countless children running and jumping around. The smoking side of the hotel reeks of tobacco. We requested the room to be cleaned, but the staff just went inside, left a paper saying they had done it, and left all the fresh towels and toiletries hanging from the door in a bag outside. They also put the do not disturb sign on the door. Wastebins were not emptied, futons weren't made. No actual cleaning happened.
The outdoor bath was nice. The rest of the hotel was big and clean, but for the price you pay, that is the least to be expected. The room was spacious and the futons were comfortable.

PhilippinesThey speak very little English so be ready with Google Translate. A bit of a walk to the station. Not a lot of restaurants nearby and the nearest convenience store (Lawson) was around an 8 minute walk.
Good quality for the price. Rooms were spacious. Can comfortably fit a family of 4. We had a relaxing time and enjoyed the onsen. We had a good view of the river from our room. Rooms were old but charming.

SingaporeThe outdoor onsen and indoor onsen are not linked, which makes it inconvenient if you want to go for both outdoor and indoor onsen.
Big hotel with many choices for the buffet. Dinner comes with snow crab. I saw KTV rooms, reading room and table tennis room for guest to enjoy.

NetherlandsThe futons where hard. But was to expect. So it not that negative.
It's a nice hotel. The reviews I found where not always positive. So went with a mix feeling. But the rooms are big ( special within Japan. It is a small apartment) and nice. The hotel has a lot to offer. Food ( dinner and breakfast are good, also for European).

AustraliaThe photos on booking.com are not properly reflecting the quality of the hotel. The hotel is crowded, poorly maintained and smells of stale carpet, cigarette smoke and the rooms we were assigned and offered as alternative were horribly stale and stank of mold. The images on the website show a calm, small hotel but infact it's more a summer camp for large groups and accommodating groups from tour busses. When you check other accommodation sites it's clear this hotel is not well maintained and using old equipment. The onsen was not clean and not worth trying to wash in. All this considered the night staff were accommodating to us and tried to make up for our concerns, this was appreciated and they are not in control of the poor standards of the hotel. Mostly the photos and reviews on booking.com are misleading as to what kind of hotel this is, it's more a convention centre hotel which is relying on guests who are not returning. This is evident in the poor condition, bad maintenance and misleading representation of the hotel on retail sites. For the price we paid, there is likely better nearby, I recommend to avoid this hotel and not be mislead like we were.
The staff in the evening was accommodating and willing to listen to our complaints and were helpful but sadly the quality of the stay was out of their control.

United StatesThe location is a little bit far from the subway station. No bus transfer at night. We arrived around 6:30PM. It's dark and hardly see people on the street. So it's a little bit scary walking on the street. About 10-15 minutes walk to the hotel. The room is outdated.
Our Japanese style room is big. The buffet dinner and breakfast is good and delicious. So many choices. It's very quiet. The room with the river view is nice.

Japan1) As mentioned above, the pics and the actual place were completely different. 2) We paid over $1100 per two nights because of the famous onsen. The onsen was nothing special with just one bath and one type of water (usually there are 2-3 different types of water for nicer hotels with similar price ranges - different cities) 3) The “view” was awful. Yes there was a very small water running in front and had mountains but all we were able to focus were very ugly discolored “hotels” in front of us. 4) The parking was very far away from the facility which made us drag our luggages across the street.
The difference between the pictures shown from Booking.com and the actual hotel were so different that I was sure we were in the wrong hotel when checking in. The only thing I was happy about was the staff member understanding that we did not want to stay for two nights as originally planned and gave us a refund after one night of stay. Another thing I liked was that it was very quiet which was helpful in getting some sleep.
