Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe staff are excellent- always trying to help , although they did not have a Japanese/English translator- we were able to communicate using Google translate. The onset is a lovely oasis of hot and cold baths. Free noodles in the evening, ice cream and bottles of water were appreciated. Laundry is available as well. The location is absolutely perfect for Mara park and the JR train line. Starbucks is across the street, in the tourist information centre, where there is luggage depot , free walking tours and English translators. Alongside is a grocery store- fridge is in the room- and a great noodle restaurant and bakery-

What a great location . Next to the station, 5 min walk to the shopping street with food courts. Perfect firm beds, onsen is very beautiful (was a nice experience for me and my wife). Temples are near, and very beautiful. The room was in japanese style. You where not able to walk with the shoes through the hotel, you need to put your shoes in a locker. Hotel was very clean.

AustraliaIt's not very clear in the booking listing, but the staff do not allow tattooed people in the onsen. It's an antiquated Japanese rule, but a rule nevertheless. With that said, the onsen itself is really lovely. So if you can cover up your tattoos with a patch, give this place a try.
Clean premises, good location, great traditional onsen.

AustraliaRooms are quite small but ok for a short stay . No shoes allowed throughout hotel. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Walking distance from all to see in Nara. Good to have a vending machine and microwave on each floor to use. The Onsen was fantastic. We didn't try breakfast but it looked popular. Shops open close by if you want a cheaper option.

Very professional and friendly staff. Check in and check out a breeze. Our room was amazing and the hotel was literally across the street from the JR Nara Train Station, we just had to walk 5 minutes with our luggage and back packs. Excellent in every-way!

A modern hotel with Japanese style - tatami mat floors & shoji on the windows. This hotel was a little difficult to find - there was no name on the building. It was in a great location - very close to the station & tourist information centre. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were a good size for Japan. The breakfast offering was big but it was mainly Japanese cuisine, not a lot of western food. The staff were friendly. I would stay here again.

United StatesThe only complaint is that the bed was a bit stiff for my taste, but I guess this is traditional in Japan and goes with the rest of the "wa" theme.
I did not use the onsen, but the room was very nice, in kinda modern Japanese style: low wooden furniture, tatami floor, shoji on the windows. Very clean. Shoes off policy through the whole building. You leave your shoes in a locker downstairs and walk around in your socks. Excellent breakfast, the best I ever seen! Amazing variety and quality of food. They also include a complimentary bowl of ramen, but it was served too late in the night. (around 9:30 pm)

United KingdomSomething to consider? It’s right opposite the main JR station which is great in some ways, but makes it quite a long 20 min walk to Nara park etc.
The atmosphere in this hotel is great - staff & guests all enjoying themselves. The onsen is fabulous with outdoor and indoor pools open till late, with typical Dormy Inn free noodles at 9:30pm and free ice creams after your onsen. The interior decor emphasises traditional Japanese with tatami mats and blossoms on each floor. We parked our hire car and had the excitement of the car lift too.

United KingdomWonderful hotel in Nara located just across from the main station & the main street leading to the park. Clean and pretty spacious public baths. I preferred to stay inside as we hear trains pass in the outside onsen. Guests are required to leave shoes upon entering the lobby (shoe lockers provided) which we loved, felt like a true Japanese hospitality experience. Complimentary soba noodles in the evening. Small but very comfortable rooms.

AustraliaEverything was amazing at the hotel and nice complimentary food offerings....probably a little pricey..booking.com made it difficult to negotiate with hotel. Previous booking was for 30 per cent less and when I wanted to reduce our booking by a night, the room price went up by 150 AUD per night...hotel said we could not manage our booking with them and only way was to use free cancellation policy. When I rebooked, price went up but not able to be cancelled. Then was advertised later for the cheaper price. So..not really a complaint against onyado but rather booking.com
Onsen and facilities were great. Loved the tatami floors..no shoes all through hotel was very nice.

United StatesThe experience is unique at this hotel and I understand why they like us to keep our outside shoes away but the process of needing to take off our shoes and keep them in a locker and walk barefoot to the room was inconvenient when we needed to make a quick trip to the room and back.
The hotel is clean. It is close to the train station and other sites to see around town. The room was a good size for two people. They also included welcome gifts in the refrigerator for us which was nice.
