Great location just a brief walk from Kyoto Station. Comfy room, great shower and friendly staff. No included breakfast, but you can buy it downstairs for a fair price!

While we appreciated having laundry facilities in the hotel, however we did not like that the dryer’s time is at ¥100 but only for 3 minutes 😞 so to completely dry your clothes, you need to keep adding more ¥

Really beautiful and large common areas, specially the spacious library which doubles up as a theater. They have movie nights! Loved the kitchen-dining area (at B1) that everyone can use. Provided a decent smoking area outside the hotel. Was really surprised in the excellent use of space in an otherwise compact room, such as having space underneath the bed to store your luggage. A lot of restaurants and bars in the neighborhood as well as konbinis close by. Some notable temples are also just a few minutes walk away. Added bonus: almost all of the front office staff know how to speak good English and are all very helpful.

I was very pleasantly surprised! Clean and comfortable rooms. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. Great "experiences" like gin tasting, short movies, and a cool library to sit and relax. The communal kitchen was well maintained. ++

The meal options were very limited but they did have a kitchen that you could utilize with your own grocery so that made up for this.

I loved the library and the entertainment during the movie showings! Even though we did not know japanese, we used google lens to translate the books as we read so there were some really interesting books. We also really enjoyed the drinks from the bar.

wifi signal around the bed area was not the best. I had to use my own mobile router

Rooms are small but very well designed in terms of storage spaces. We had two big luggages and were able to unpack our stuff and put the empty luggages under the bed. The location is very convenient. Plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby, plus it’s a short walk from the train station.

The hotel might want to consider getting water dispensers on each floor/ some floors. Currently there is only one drinking tap located in the basement’s shared kitchen. It is hard to open the luggage due to the limited space as well, but I doubt there is anything the hotel can do. There is no daily housekeeping, only 1 full clean (at your choice of date) if you stay more than 3 nights. There is the option of putting your used towels and robes at a basket near the lift and retrieving fresh ones nearby, so this was not a huge issue for me.

Kyoto Station’s multiple exits were confusing, but once you get familiar with the area, the walk to the station is within 10 minutes (crossing only 1 main street). There is a 24h Japanese fast food chain (Nakau) right next to the hotel, and a family mart nearby. The room (we stayed the Bunk Bed option) is small but cleverly designed to save space and is very clean. Bed and pillows are soft and comfortable.

    Nothing, all was excellent.

Fabulous! Our absolute favourite hotel so far! Great value, and welcoming, helpful staff fluent in English. The hotel feels very modern, fresh and boutique style. Great cocktail bar and free mini-movie nights in the books area in evening. The vibe is excellent here, the rooms small but clean, and very comfortable. Fresh towels, & pyjamas and slippers included for use. The staff really make this place exceptional, and I would return here again as our first choice. Excellent value and service, lovely and hope to return!

I honestly cannot think of anything from our short stay.

The bathroom door had some strange residue and some of the wallpapers had slightly come off at the corners - so overall it was not as tidy and pristine as other places in Japan. However, still very clean and comfortable.

Location was great and beds were very comfortable. We loved the self serve towels and pyjamas. The smoking area was quite nice.

Not much you could expect more for this pricepoint. Maybe on thing, we had booked a room with a double-level bed and the air quality was not so good on the higher level.

Excellent hotel for the price! It's a hybrid of a hotel and hostel but on the luxurious side. You receive all utilities you need, very modern, high quality materials all around. Very nice comunity area with short films, lot's of books and relaxing opportunities. The room itself was also good for the price. Very simple but very delicious breakfast! Bagle and coffee for 600 yen!

The only downside was the washer and dryer units. The room smelled of mold and the washer did not even clean my clothes. The unit said that it automatically dispensed detergent, but I doubt that. I even added a half packet incase it didn’t and they still came out semi dirty. The dryer didn’t work very well either.

Such a great location! There is so much to do around this area and it’s so easy to get to the trains to get elsewhere in Kyoto. The hotel room was surprisingly bigger than I thought and it was clean and fresh. The lobby is also gorgeous and the Staff was so helpful and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again, no hesitation!

There was the smell of cigarettes/smoke in the kitchen and sitting areas, even though there wasn't anyone smoking around us in the hotel

Tune Stay was just a tad bit far from the bustling areas and Kyoto station (maybe around a 8 min walk if you consider the fact that Kyoto station is quite big and you might have trouble finding the actual train you need). Trust me when I say that a 4 versus 8 min walk makes a significant difference when you're travelling around Japan. However as someone who doesn't mind walking a bit more for a quality hotel, this was a very minor factor for me.

Tune Stay Kyoto was probably one of my favourite hotels I stayed in during my time in Japan. From the moment I entered the hotel, the front desk staff greeted me well and spoke very impressive English (kind of made me feel at home as someone from Canada)! Excellent facilities - they have a bookshop/library built into the hotel, with plenty of areas to lounge in to read books or do work. I didn't personally use their gin bar, but it seemed to have good pricing with interesting options. Next to the bar they have even more space to eat and lounge around. I was also given two free drinks at the onset for my stay (you could choose from a menu of options, both non-alcoholic and alcoholic. I had an Asahi beer and orange juice). This was a pleasant surprise! They transform the bookstore/library into a movie theatre in the evenings, primarily showing short films. A fun little thing to do if you're not busy during the evening. They have a few breakfast items you can purchase at an affordable price, which was handy for the morning I checked out. Yummy and convenient. Lastly, my room was highly comfortable and clean. The layout was great, and I felt very safe as a female solo traveller.
