Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Very good room, well equipped. Beds are softer than most budget options I've had before in Japan. Very good for the price. Would recommend

GermanyNote that they require relatively early check out (10am) and do not have a lockers option for check out guests. Lockers at the bus terminal can be used, however it is very busy there and there is not much space for large items. The stuff is not fluent in English however they are willing to help
very new hotel, close to the bus terminal and to many rental car agencies.

United StatesHotel should allow a couple hours of after check out luggage storage also. It’s understandable that priority should be given to guests checking in, at least 1-2 hrs should be allowed after check out.
Location! Location!! Location!!! Within 5min walk from the train station which was the main reason of me choosing this hotel

AustraliaRoom was quite small. I expect a hotel outside Tokyo is a bit larger. Breakfast is the same for 2 days we stayed. Parking in their own multi level takes a bit of time to take our your car.
Location is great, staffs are friendly and helpful. Walkable to station and Atami centre.

This hotel is close to the Atami train station. Walking distance 3-4 mins. Provides PJ"s and toiletries. Laundry servive was handy. Breakfast small but okay. Includes one half size roll plus coffee or tea and a sweet. We caught a local bus near the station to Atami Castle. The town is very hilly and too hard to walk to the waterfront.

New ZealandNot soundproof rooms - could hear chair screeching across floor from above and then lots of footsteps from above early in the morning (I think the upstairs room had a child). Also could hear echoing (lots of hard surfaces in this hotel) from corridor. Also light came in the blinds, not blackout at all. Pillow was too high for me, but mattress comfortable.
Convenient location, modern spacious room with seating area. Nice separate sink area which meant shower wasn’t crammed into one. You can get out more than one locker if your stuff doesn’t fit and you arrive before checkin. I read another review that you can’t leave your stuff there after checkout but not sure. It’s true (from another review) that stuff closes surprisingly early, get your sashimi early or be at peace with McD’s. Read other reviews about breakfast and it will manage your expectations and you’ll decide how much you’d be willing to pay for the place. I got a good price and am a small eater so didn’t bother me at all. Actually I asked for no cheese and they kindly made it for me, I think they make everyone’s on the spot pretty quickly. It’s true though, it’s not really nice lol. the potato salad wasn’t bad though. Very fast checkout via machine.

JapanBreakfast should be better. Considering the price for each night and there are no open cafes until 10:00am. They should consider serving a decent breakfast. Kettle inside the room perhaps for coffee or tea.
It’s close to Atami station (5mins walk) and the Yu-Yu loop bus that is going around tourist spots around Atami. The smart TV in the room where you can watch Netflix, Hulu, or YouTube as most of the local channels are in Japanese. There is also a Family mart in the corner of the street. 2 mins walk from the hotel.

IsraelThe raw cement ceiling, though probably meant as a design feature, doesn't look good. Also the self check in process was a bit tedious but really nothing too bad
The location is near the train station and a few restaurants (although they close early). The hotel is very modern, clean and pleasant. The room wasn't big but we expected that, and the space was used well. The free breakfast was nice and the staff was great

United KingdomThere are lockers to store your bags in if you arrive advance of the official check-in time, but you can't use them beyond check-out time. However, luggage storage is available outside the nearby train station. A bit of a disappointing surprise was that there was no kettle in the room, so you need to head downstairs for a breakfast coffee.
The hotel is very close to Atami's train and bus stations, and is spotlessly clean. Though not expansive, our twin room was of a decent size, and the bathroom was bright. A small but decent breakfast is served in the bright and stylish space downstairs. Check-in and out is automatic, and easy, even for a technophobe like me. English-speaking staff are at hand to help in any case.

JapanNot sure if I overlooked or what, but no cup for toothbrush? Have to grab and dispose paper cups everyday. Breakfast can be improved greatly. It's the same menu all the time, and not that good to be honest.
Absolutely convenient location. Nice, clean and spacious room. And as the name suggests, some fancy, interesting smart gadgets in both room and lobby.

JapanIt is supposed to be a "smart hotel", but the reception staff are watching over your shoulders whilst you enter the details into the reception device and keep talking to you (seems counterproductive). They also ask for the address and job details of both people staying, which is unnecessary. We had no idea where the wi-fi password was and had to ask the staff downstairs - again, it was not explained to us and not very "smart". There was also no phone in the room to call the reception... Apparently, there is one outside the elevator on each floor, but again this was not obvious. They only help you look after luggage on the day of your check in, not the checkout day. It seems like a cold hotel with too much focus on being a "smart" and technologically advanced hotel, but it's actually creating more issues for people as nothing is explained. Breakfast is fine as a snack but don't expect it to fill you up.
Very clean and modern hotel. They have amenities that you can choose and take up to your room.

United KingdomThe breakfast was awful. The toasted ciabatta was very small and very greasy.
Machine check in with no help from the man at ‘reception’ one meter away. Decor was brutalist and unwelcoming. Room was small but very clean and was ok for one night. They have luggage storage for the day you arrive but will not store anything on your departure day and have a big sign saying so.
