Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe room was a lovely traditional style with a very comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Very close to lots of restaurants and bars. Short walk to train station.

GermanyI was one hour early and came right of the flight. They offered that I could get earlier in the room but only for 2.5k yen surcharge. A ryokan that pricey should not have such surcharges. The design part was overrated. I felt that a classical ryokan would have been nicer.
Nice staff. Clean rooms, you can rent bicycles. Overall it's a well done hotel. The Japanese breakfast is *VERY, VERY GOOD* and I was super happy with it.

GermanyWe had to ask the staff how to use the toilet remote, which only worked when taken out off the fixture and held to the other side of the toilet. Other than that, everything was very five. We enjoyed the idea of giving a modern twist to the Japanese bedroom and bathroom. Particularly the bathtub was absolutely great. Everything clean and stylish.

United KingdomRooms looked bigger on the photos, and to be honest, I don't think the price was justified. Seems bit expensive for what it was, as there wasn't anything particularly special, maybe if the price included breakfast that would have been better.
Great location, everything was in easy walking distance. Very nice modern take on a Ryokan. Staff were friendly. Beds were comfy and shower was really nice. They were able to accommodate us with our baby and they had a baby cot available.

AustraliaThe room was dark and cramped. Felt like a focus on style rather than function. The corridors were dark and gloomy. The room was so dark you couldn't see anything. The layout was inefficient even allowing for the small dimensions. There was nowhere in the room to sit.
The bed was very comfortable. The Japanese breakfast was excellent. Beautifully presented and served.

United StatesThere wasn't much space to store luggage, luckily we stayed only one night so didn't need to unpack.
The room was dark and the bed was comfortable, perfect for a night's sleep before waking early the next morning. The bathroom was spacious.

CanadaThe rooms aren’t the most sound proof, especially in the bathroom I could hear hair dryers and muffled conversations. When it rained at night it was a little loud and you can hear some traffic outside. I was sad that the toilet’s bidet functions didn’t work.
Very close to JR Kannai Station which is only 2 stops from Yokohama Station. You can even get to the station using underground tunnels if it rains. The entrance corridor is narrow but opens up to a bigger tatami room where you can put your suitcases. The bathroom was large and spacious with the shower/bath separate from the toilet. The beds were comfy.

CanadaOn the pricey side, but you pay for the ryokan style. Entrance is hard to spot from the street as it is set back down a narrow path, so easy to miss on first pass through the area.
Good location only a short walk to the port area. Check-in and check-out were fast and easy, plus they held our luggage after check-out so we could explore the city more before out train. The rooms are a great mix of traditional ryokan and modern hotel.

AustriaThe only thing I wasn't happy with was that there was no space for me to open my suitcase. I have a bigger sized suitcase when I travel for two weeks and I could only open it in the bathroom, as the entryway was too narrow to fully open it (and still reach the door. If there's two people in the room, this might be a bit of a problem, as there really isn't any space to store luggage, no cupboard either. Not having a cupboard or wardrobe is fine if you can open your suitcase and use that instead.
The hotel is close to the underground (5 min) and the JR station at Kannai, as well as several bus lines, perfect for exploring Yokohama. It takes a bit to get to central Tokyo, but connections are frequent - however, if Tokyo is the main focus of your stay, it might be better to stay closer to the Tokyo city center. What I loved about the neighborhood was that it had everything you needed - restaurants, shops, public transport, and yet it wasn't as crowded as Tokyo usually is. Large separate shower room with small bathtub and separate space for toilet and sink, which is really nice.
