Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Super friendly hosts. I enjoyed every minute! Everything is spacious and clean. The mattress was the best I had in Japan! You can rent bicycles for free. Well equipped kitchen! Bus station is nearby to get around as well. Convenient store right across the street. You can see Mt. Fuji from the balcony 😍

FranceOnly one shower and toilet for the whole house which represents between 10 and 20 persons I guess. It is indicated before the reservation so no surprises. For the early birds like me it will not be a big deal.
It is a typical Japanese house with comfy furnitures. The owners are welcoming and helpful. They live in the house so some ameneties are shared with them. The house is a bit far from everything but there is a 7 eleven a minute´s walk which is convenient for diner. Free bikes are available so it is easy to visit the lakes and the pagoda, a sightseeing bus stop is located near the house for those who don’t like bikes.

AustraliaThere is only one bathroom at the property, which is well advertised anyways, however we did not find that this was a problem for us, as it was available whenever required.
The Haleluya Guest house was perfect accomodation for our two night stay in Kawaguchiko! The place is super cute and cosy with great facilities! The hosts were super friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fabulous trip!

United KingdomA little far away without the bikes but absolutely fine if you're happy to cycle (about 15-20mins to kawaguchi station) Only one toilet and shower but this didn't impact my trip and I didn't have to wait really - just once for the shower for one person
Had a really lovely stay, with free bikes to get around the lake (which was amazing) and to the train station to go to the pagoda, staff were super nice and helpful with recommendations and questions and the guesthouse is close to a 7/11. A very nice communal area to eat and relax - toasty foot heater included! Felt very special to have Mt Fuji in the backdrop

JapanThere is only one shower and one toilet, so sometimes you have to wait a bit. The bus from Kawaguchiko station to near the guesthouse is quite infrequent, so taking a taxi from the station is more convenient.
We booked the room with two tents inside, which created a super cosy and original atmosphere. The room was like two rooms combined and very spacious with great views and a seating area. The mattresses and bedding were extremely comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. Enjoyed the free tea and coffee. Cosy communal sitting area and kitchen. The whole guesthouse is well decorated and the owners are very friendly. We enjoyed renting bikes for free as well. 7-11 closeby. Fuji views!

LuxembourgWe felt very welcome, the place was clean and warm, and we even had the luxury of a direct view of Mount Fuji. The owner was very welcoming and took the time to show us around. The location is ideal, easy to get to by bus from Kawaguchiko station. What's more, there are bicycles available, so we could easily explore the surrounding area. I can't recommend it enough!

ThailandThere's only one toilet and shower for the entire guesthouse. It's 35 minutes on foot from kawaguchiko station so you'll definitely need a tax if you want to do some sightseeing on the day you arrive or when taking an early bus/train because the buses run very infrequently (once every hour) and not before 9 something am and not long after 5 pm. Also you definitely have to bike if you want to get food because the only place close by closes really early.
It's a very lovingly decorated space to hang out at. The free bikes you can borrow are essential. The staff are really helpful and give you good tips on where to go. It's super clean. Near a 7/ 11. It's on the green sightseeing bus line so good if you want to check out the sights on this line. Comfy beds. There's a locker for valuables. Nice kitchen to use. Western and Japanese living area. The bathroom is nice an spacious.
