How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

From meeting desk staffs to all facilities in not only room and total hotel are perfect, especially bath room, outside view and price, which are impressive and cosy to stay.Really don't hesitate to book this property!

Beautiful property, extremely convenient location for anyone seeing the Gion side of Kyoto. Within walking distance to all major attractions and several train stations.

As with most Japanese hotels, there was nowhere to unpack your case. It would be good if there was some shelving
Lovely hotel in a quiet street but still so close to transport, shops, restaurants and walking distance to the Nishiki Food Markets and the famous Gion area. The ladies at the front desk were friendly and very helpful. The bed was comfortable and there was a washer dryer for guests use.

Everything was great! If there is one thing that could improve is to check if the cups and glasses are used and dirty, and replace them with clean ones daily.

The hotel has a policy not to refresh towels and bed linen daily. I have no problem with this. However, in other hotels with similar policy, it is usual to expect that staff will tidy the room, empty bins and replace items such as coffee and tea. This did not happen at the Rinn Miyagawacho Grande which I found disappointing. It is up to the guest to ask for this. I think when a guest is paying a large sum of money for a hotel room, such service should be expected without asking.
A small but comfortable hotel in a well situated location in Gion. I was particularly impressed with the helpful staff. They assisted me to make an appointment with an English speaking doctor in Kyoto. They also were extremely helpful in recovering some items I had left by mistake in the safe when I checked out. Staff recovered the items and mailed them to me at my home in Australia. This was all done with great efficiency and goodwill and honesty and I am very grateful to them.

We had a lovely stay in Rinn Miyagawacho Grande which is located in the peaceful neighborhood in a walking distance to Gion district. The room was very cozy and comfortable with all necessary amenities. The staff was amazing, very kind and helpful at all times what made our stay even more pleasant. We are very happy that we found this place :)

Small space but excellent value for money.
The location was brilliant, I barely had to use transport as everything (including major attractions) was a 20 minute walk away or less. The staff were very attentive and helpful - my favourite part was the water and ice machine so I didn’t have to go buy water every night.

Location was in the quieter part of Gion. So in the middle of new city and the happening areas of the old city. Not much convenience store nearby, still need to walk about for food options. Room also a little small, but expected.
New rooms, clean and cosy. Staff was great and helpful. Location was near the Gion train station so it is also very convenient as I travelled from Osaka.
