The shared bathrooms isn’t great and the hotel upsells a lot after your arrival. The tax per day, rent for towels etc. It’s better to include it all and make a fair price from the get go. Hygiene is not the same as other Japanese stays. Could improve (plastic bags under the bed, our kids found a toothbrush in the side of the mattress).

The outside of the building and location is fantastic. Lovely people that run the hotel.

The laundry services were particularly expensive, as well as the towel rental. The shower room looked clean but had a very bad smell. In the shower, an automatic system turned off the water flow every 10 seconds, which was quite annoying.

The location was good, the room was big and clean. Downstairs was a large and comfortable cafe where you could work and study.

They sometimes forgot to switch off the automatic lights at night so all the light would turn on when movement was detected.

Very nice owner. The beds were comfortable. Looking at the rating I was expecting the hostel to be bad but I was positively surprised at how nice it was.

The dryer isn't very effective. We had to dry our clothes several times. The lights of the dormitory wouldn't turn on during the day on certain days.

The owner was really nice. The layout of the beds was decently spacious. Having a washing machine is a nice add-on. The traditional japanese was really good.

For 100€ per night in the private room, i think the towels should have been included and not paying extra for them.

I really didn't like going to the ladies toilet or bathroom on another floor as our room was in the back of the hotel, it was very far away!! Even if you want to quickly brush your teeth or just wash your hands, you need to cross the hall, enter the stairways were it was really cold, and then cross another hallway, way to far and it was really annoying. The men bathroom and toilet where on the opposite of our room, so really close, so sometimes I went there to go to the toilet or wash hands but felt really unwelcome ofcourse if a male enters te room, and I needed to explain why I'm here as the girls room is sooo far away! I also didn't like paying for coffee/tea or a towel, in my opinion a towel should be included in the price of the stay.

The owner of the hotel is very friendly and gave us the best local tips for food. From the hotel you can walk to gion district, nishiki market and ponchoto alley which is really nice! The room is very small but for us it was oke. It's very clean and quiet, which was really nice. Bathrooms and toilets are clean!

You have to change to a different floor every time you want to get to the toilet or take a shower that's kinda uncomfortable. There's not water or coffee in the rooms, rooms are not clean everyday. Get ready to pay for a towel!!!!......
