The room can be a bit noisy, but nothing problematic unless your are sensitive to it. Equipment is a bit older, but functional and well maintained.

Nothing - it was perfect!

One of my best stays I’ve had, and not just in Japan. Main reason is the super warm & friendly hospitality of the people who own the place - so friendly, respectful & helpful. Offered to keep my bags when I came early & also while departing, even without me asking. Gave me an umbrella when it was raining outside. Took the effort to explain every detail of the room so I would know what is what. This is what hospitality should be like - and I truly commend the owners for this. The room was proper Japanese inn style - complete with pyjama’s, table sitting on the ground. But well equipped with AC, refrigerator, kettle, very powerful WiFi and everything you need. I had a very comfortably stay - and will always remember this place. Thank you Ryokan Kyoraku!

Very well situated near Kyoto station, which is the trains but also city buses and subway hub, well kept, extremely clean and comfortable ryokan. A family business with staff kind, attentive, very accommodating, giving useful information to visitors.

Only one small thing that I would mention is that the shower heads in the bathroom weren't great but i wouldn't let that get in the way of staying here - it was a great place to stay.

Best place we stayed at in Japan! The location is great - close to Kyoto station and walking distance to a lot of the "must see" places in Kyoto. It was quite cold & wet while we were in Kyoto so it was great to come back to a warm room. The room was large and the futons were very comfortable. The shared bathrooms were spotless - we didn't have to wait to use them once during our stay - it was like we had them to ourselves. The staff were very helpful. Although there is no food options, there are many places to choose from that are walking distance. Would definitely recommend this place.

Best place we stayed at in Japan! staff were so friendly and welcoming. The experience was lovely. Great location, super close to the station. Futons were surprisingly very comfortable. It was raining and cold during our stay so being able to come back to a heater in our room was very appreciated.

If you're a bit picky with bedding and need a comfier mattress, maybe a futon isn't for you, otherwise everything was great!

This quaint small little inn has lots to offer, it's a short walk to Kyoto station and in the middle of every temple you could ever ask to visit. It's close to a variety of selection of things to eat and the staff are more than helpful even if you don't know Japanese. It's definitely a lovely welcome to Japan and it's culture, would definitely come again!

As I did a lot of walking 20+ miles in Kyoto in 2 days I probably needed somewhere more comfortable for my knees and legs. Most of the major sights are quite a long way from this area which I didn't know.

I did not now what to expect and simply expected simplicity. The ryokan is very close to Kyoto Station and therefore a good base. The place is also very quiet and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

I love the design of the property. The traditional Japanese room is refreshing and interesting. Amenities and facilities in the room and within the hotel are well places and working well. The owners are welcoming and hospitable. The location is very convenient. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk from Kyoto Station. There is bus stops around the property. There are lots of dining options serving to a variety of price points

I loved staying here! A great location and an easy walk from Kyoto Station. The gentleman who ran the ryokan was very kind and welcoming, showed me around my room and introduced me to all the amenities. It was clean, quiet, and my sleeping mat was comfortable. We had a fantastic stay in this traditional Japanese Ryokan! The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was large and the futons were super comfortable. Both the room and shared bathrooms were spotless, and a peaceful place to stay after a long day sightseeing in Kyoto. Only a short walk from Kyoto station it was very convenient and we would not hesitate to stay here again next time!
