I was able to walk to the location because I only had a backpack but I can see it being a challenge for those with larger suitcases as it does go up an incline. Best to take a taxi and discuss with the facility.

Staff were super friendly and welcoming. Rooms were clean and there wasn’t much to not like. The provided meals were also amazing and high quality; and nothing too far out there that people from the west may have trouble eating. Just simple and delicious. Also, make sure to get the private room for a personal open air onsen if you prefer that. Lastly, as others mentioned, its a nice view of the mountain which I loved.

Spend 10 mins from the JR station, hot spring shower tape and hair dryer were less, have to wait, no toilet and bathroom in the guest room, but easy to reach the public room.

Breakfast and dinner were more than expectation, we have stayed 2 nights, the 2nd night were enjoyed the hot pot, delicious food. Room size was good enough, staff were nice and helpful. We have asked for arranging a taxi to car rental shop, the Hotel was suffered the taxi fare, it was a small amount but it was provided a good service completely.

Beautiful View of Mount Yufu. The Private Onsen was a little bit of heaven. I found the walk to the property to be quite enjoyable. Employees were fantastic. Food was very yummy. Everything was very clean and well maintained.

The best part was its staff. All of them were almost perfectly nice and kind, taking care of every detailed things from making reservation on restraunt to calling taxi. The breakfast was good too. The hotspring was clean and well managed. If I have to say one bad thing, then it’d its location. Little bit far from the Yufuin station. But this also means that you can enjoy peace and lovely view of the village, so no problem for me. It was my second time visiting Ryokan Yamanami and they didn’t let me down. Honestly, they did far more than I expected. I’m sure I’ll stay here again if I come to Yufuin again some time.

Nice place with lovely onsen! Room is large and comfortable, clean and has everything for living available. With the view of mountain in the morning... very beautiful. Shared bathroom with outdoor onsen, which is able to access all night, is very comfortable. And from outdoor onsen, you can see the mountain view in the morning, which is very beautiful. For dinner or breakfast, you may have to reserve while booking or you can bring your own foods from minimart, which is not far from Ryokan much.

The hotel isn’t too far from Yufuin station but there are some parts of the road goes slightly uphill and unpaved. It’s not too bad if you aren’t travelling with kids or elderly or are driving. It would be perfect if Onsen time can be extended until around 11am next day.

We enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was good and staff were very friendly. We stayed in a room without a shower or toilet, but it had a sink/wash basin. The view from our room was also nice. There is a gender segregated Onsen area which rotates on a daily basis. Each area has 3 “pools”, 1 indoor and 2 outdoor with each accommodating 2-3 people. It was never crowded. Onsen time is 5pm-9am next day. There is a games room with table tennis, mini golf and 2 massage chairs.

If I have to say something, it's that I was hoping for onsen milk in the vending machines but they didn't have any. Otherwise excellent stay!

Staff were attentive, and very helpful - upon check-in the receptionist gave us a little tour of the room and gave us some pointers on how to enjoy the bath. Room was clean and comfortable, and there was a beautiful view to boot. Dinner was decadent, we were so full and satisfied at the end of the meal. The breakfast was also excellent and there was a great view of the mountain in the morning. At check out I asked for help calling a taxi out and she did so happily. Thanks for a great stay!

The men and women public upstairs toilet have a slight opening above the sink that connects the rooms so you can literally hear everything that goes on in both restrooms - it will be good to close that space up somehow so that there’s more privacy.

Our room had a brilliant view of the mountains and town. The room was spacious, comfy, clean and resembled you could imagine of a traditional Japanese style house.

The location is a little far from the train station and we had to wait very long for a taxi at the station due to the high number of tourists.

The experience of having a private onsen with a nice view. The traditional style ryokan room with the accompanying yukata made the experience truly immersive.

There is a slight bad smell emanating from the toilet, couldn't figure out the source I think they're a bit understaffed, and although everyone is obviously trying their best, the response time for message replies leave alot to be desired (The private onsens are a bit far from the main hotel, and they said I can message them if I have any queries) I also understand not changing towels, sleepwear, and beddings daily, but I think for the price point, expecting at least light housekeeping daily so that trash does not build up wouldn't go amiss.

The views are absolutely breathtaking anywhere you look Service is above and beyond, special mention to Noa-san for assisting me with my needs The place is very clean and comfortable Their breakfast spread is amazing and it's a different set each day And of course, the onsen is simply delightful It's a bit a ways from the train station but that also makes the place more relaxing and serene (not recommended for those with mobility issues tho! Unless you've got a car)
