Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaSometimes the showers got a little crowded, especially the woman baths. The washing machines and dryers are a little hard to use because they were occupied most of the time,
Good location, very close to public transport. We liked the lounge area where we could make our own coffee and eat breakfast

SloveniaI wish they would clean up/bring fresh towels at least every other day. Since the room was small, drying the towels was a hassle.
This hotel is great for what it is -a budget stay with a traditional twist. It was new, clean, centrally located, the onsen was lovely and the common areas beautiful. But don't expect any luxury, despite the price - this is Kyoto in high season.

MalaysiaI understand that it is the Japanese culture to have public baths. I wish the showers offer a bit more privacy (not fully frosted glass and no locks). Do not book the place if you're on that time of the month because I had no idea what to do...
The room is spacious and the beds are very comfy. Great location, close to bus and train stations!

ColombiaCorridor’s carpet is old and stained. Very dirty, maybe asking to take off shoes inside the hotel would be better. This strike me as the rest of the hotel is super clean and has really good ambiance. Also keep in mind that after 11PM you cannot be in the common areas
Really nice place to stay very close to the main station and 2 min away from a metro station, making it super easy to move in Kyoto and surrounding area. The rooms are small but super comfortable and clean. Towels, slippers and lounge wear are provided. The bathrooms are clean and the shower area is great, big and with plenty of products you can use.

JapanRoom was a bit small as the bed took up 2/3rds of the space. Provided pajamas were a bit too small for me. Different sizes would be appreciated.
The hotel was very modern and well designed. The bed was very comfortable. In-room amenities included a toothbrush, toothpaste, pajamas, towels, hairdryer, and bag for taking to the bath area. There was also an area in the lounge with some additional items you could take up to your room if needed including pillows and luggage racks. Really enjoyed the shared bath space but it was a bit on the small side. There are 5 shower stalls and 4 sit down types in the bath space. It was nearly empty when I bathed at 10pm on a Thursday. There is also a wall of different shampoo and conditions you can choose from which was a nice touch.

GermanyThe room we booked was a bit small, having 4 luggages was not easy, but maybe there are bigger options. The laundry was free, but the dryer was not drying properly anymore, maybe it was overused already. So every after laundry, we needed to walk to the next laundry shop for the dryer, but it wasn't far.
Upon entering the hostel, we were surprised on how clean the lobby was. The check in process is a breeze since they use a machine for it. And the accomodating staff, who helped us regarding our luggage was a big help for me. Even though the toilet and the bath is for common use, it was very clean. And the options of shampoos and conditioner for the women bath was a lot!! I tried each one every time. They also have their own mini coffee bean grinder, which I totally enjoyed using.

IrelandThe room was very small.
The laundry and shower facilities were great. They tended to get a little busy in the evening so we used them in the late afternoon when they were extremely quiet. The staff were friendly and quick with check in and check out. Location is also very convinent to the train station if you are getting the trains from Osaka or Tokyo

Singaporethe lounge closed at 11pm. it will be good if it can stay open till 1am for guest to get some hot drinks or who can't sleep to sit around. The room is too small.
Though the room was small and compact, we managed to get by, considering the value for money. We love the lounge, there was enough space for most guest to have their own meals and privacy. there's an impressive range of coffee and tea, really enjoyed the whole experience. there's plates, bowls and cutlery- its non-disposable ones, thumbs up for being sustainable. love that they provided a toaster, most usually provide a microwave ovens. lots of local magazines to browse thru. the bath and laundry were great too. oh! they even provided umbrellas when it rained for hotel guest usage without deposit.

United StatesThere was no food that we saw but my boyfriend said he saw them baking at one point. It wasn't clear. There was beer and liquor you can buy with the coins you purchase through them though.
I liked the location next to the station and the public baths were great after a long day of wandering. They have coffee and tea for free which was nice to have in the main area while waiting for laundry.

VietnamThe showers, bath and toilets are all communal, which while adding to the homely feel the owners were going for, could be somewhat troublesome at times. Also the rooms are only cleaned every 4 days which could be inconvenient for long stays.
Very nicely situated a short walk from the Kyoto station, but still well tucked-in enough to not feel overly crowded during rush hours. The staff are very nice and there are plenty of amenities and and board games which can be rented during your stay.
