Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

They catered breakfast to our needs both from traditional Japanese to western style breakfast was excellent and always prepared on time and piping hot! A great way to start a big day on the snow or exploring hakuba!!! The owners were incredibly warm, friendly and generous with their time and information. They were exceptionally good to our 12 year old son. It was a very ‘homely’ styled hotel and for us was like a home away from home!

United KingdomJon and his wife were brilliant hosts. He picked us up from Escal Plaza (and dropped us off at the bus stop on departure), was very knowledgeable and had very good English. Onsite drying facilities were great and the bedrooms warm. Breakfast was different each day including some traditional options. Handily opposite the bus station and a 15 minute walk from some very delicious food. Has a deal with Cherry rental too. They even made us little gift departure bags for our train journey. Not ultra modern, but I'm here for the skiing and having a comfortable, warm room. Which, is what you want. Thoroughly recommend to all. Absolutely delighted with this find.

AustraliaThe staff were so kind and helpful, the free breakfast was really nice and they even made vegetarian/vegan food for me every morning which I really appreciated. Located within walking distance of the Goryu resort which also had a shuttle bus stop. The room was cosy and warm, with a toilet and shower, it even had Netflix which we enjoyed most nights. There’s a shared dry room, indoor onsen and washing machine and dryer. Everything was great.

AustraliaThe owner, Jon! He is an outstanding host who goes above and beyond. It was like a home away from home rather than a hotel. Starting with fantastic communication and pick up from the bus, and a hot chocolate when we walked in the door. The warmth and hospitality from all staff is unparalleled. The location is amazing, a short walk up the road to Escal Plaza/Goyru ski field. From here you can take the shuttle bus between ski fields right up the valley, or if you want to pop into Hakuba to get groceries/supplies, or cash. You need cash everywhere in Japan, particularly for the buses in Hakuba (free if you’re snowboarding/skiing, otherwise ¥600 per trip). There are a selection of bars and restaurants very close by. Kamui in particular, an amazing Japanese restaurant a 2 minute walk away. You can also have dinner at the hotel if you let them know in the morning, which we kept forgetting to do!! The breakfast included is fantastic, Japanese mostly so don’t expect croissants and pastries! Although most days it’s with a western flare of bacon and eggs etc. Perfect for a day on the snow, and huge portions. I’m vegetarian and this was well catered for. There is a drying room for your gear, and a self use laundry. They also have a comfy bar area for apres ski drinks, and a microwave if you want to heat your own meals, which you can get from the supermarket or Lawson’s convenience store in Hakuba. They have excellent choices. We didn’t want to leave!!

AustraliaJohn and his partner and staff were friendly, helpful and went above and beyond in making our 1st stay in the snow in Japan a comfortable and memorable one. John helped us organize ski passes, ski gear hire, ski lessons and recommended places to eat. An amazing breakfast was ready for us every morning. Dry room facilities were great. John organized transfers to the train station. If you are looking for accommodation similar to B&B, then I cannot recommend this hotel enough! We'll be back 😊

AustraliaLeaving. We really didn’t want to leave!
There is so much to love about Hotel Sejour Mint. From the very first phone call on arrival at the train station, to our very reluctant departure (complete with a little gift of travel treats!), we felt like more than just guests, John and his wonderful team providing us with a warm and comfortable stay akin to a home away from home. Breakfast was a home-cooked hot meal that fuelled us well past the morning, each day delivering exciting new options. Dinner, and I heartily recommend you arrange dinner at the hotel, was one of the best meals we had in Japan. And we had a lot of meals in Japan! The Shabu Shabu was divine, and the Wagyu beef is some of the softest I have ever tasted. Make sure you try a glass of Nagano apple juice too! As a family of three we found our room to be a very comfortable size, and having a private bathroom was a nice luxury, especially given hotels at the same price point offer shared bathrooms. It was warm and after a day on the mountain the comfortable beds were a dream. There’s also a lovely Japanese bath - perfect for relaxing in while you wait for the washing machine to finish! The location is perfect, with a gentle walk up to Goryu - and a downhill back home following a day of shredding! Grab a crepe n your way back, and be sure to stop and give thanks at the small shrine on the way. If you don’t want to walk in your ski or board boots, take them with you and grab a locker when you get to the mountain. There is also a 7/11 and a supermarket within walking distance, which we enjoyed as a way of stretching out after boarding all day. You can also get lift passes and hire gear via the hotel, and the drying room has ample space to store your kit. And ask about luggage transfers if you’re not moving to another ski resort - so convenient! Would we come back? Absolutely!! Our stay with John was the best we had in Japan, and the best I’ve had at any ski resort.

AustraliaSejour Mint was by far the most hospitable and welcoming hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The staff were all the loveliest people and were really accommodating to any needs. They also provided help for dietary requirements and were very thoughtful. The location is also perfectly situated next to Goryu ski resort. The rooms were also cozy and homey. I highly recommend this hotel to anybody.
