Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsLike I said, it’s an old hotel. The bathroom is cramped and yellow with pink, and there was a little alarm that went off at 7 o clock, that I hadn’t set myself. Also, the bed was a bit too small for two people. Everything is clean though and the room was pretty spacious.
It’s a bit of an old hotel, so it’s funny to see that style. We didn’t know it beforehand, but there was free dinner included! Rice with curry, and it actually tasted really good. I don’t know if that’s a standard thing they do, cause I hadn’t read it beforehand. It was from 18:30-20:30. Breakfast the next morning was just 550 per person, and it was a full Japanese breakfast including rice, fish, eggs and stuff, but they also had some English toast. Dinner and breakfast were both really good.

United StatesThe bathrooms are tiny! The bathrooms I stayed in other hotels in Tokyo had bigger bathrooms. For a location outside any major cities I was surprised at how small the bathroom in the rooms were.
I liked the view from the first room I stayed in. It's too bad front desk moved me to a different room after the first day. I stayed in a smoking room but the after smell was tolerable. The air freshener available in the room was strong enough(easy on the nose) to neutralize the smell of tobacco.

ThailandThere is no free drinking water in the room. The room and bed look old. The bed and pillow are not comfy.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel provides free bread and dinner, rice with curry. There is a convenient store on the first floor of the hotel building.

JapanAt the time that we booked there were no non-smoking rooms available, so unfortunately we had to go with a smoking room. The smell was pretty bad but thankfully they had included a bottle of air freshner in the room so spraying a lot of that helped with the smell.
Location was good, it is in downtown Aomori and only a 20 minute drive from the airport. They also have free parking which was a huge plus. It is easy to find/access and we also got our room for very cheap.

Japanthe water inside the bathtub was a little bit clogged. the washtub was also not so clean. the bidet was not that easy to be functioned. I also found a slight cobweb (only a slight) up to the bed.
the price is super cheap. the amenities is quite complete. it has pajamas, hair dryer, the bed is comfortable, 2 slippers, etc. i also got free bread as a complimentary. the staff were responsive and having great hospitality. i like the view as well, particularly in winter. it's city view covered with snow. but please be careful due to huge amount of snow in Aomori, when you drag your luggage it may stuck

United StatesRoom had a funny smell that never went away. Hot water was broken, so they offered refund or gave tickets to bathe in a public bath a block away. I’m no stranger to onsens, but it would absolutely daunting for a first timer.

FranceThe facilities were 1970s old and barely renovated, the room window had poor isolation and is facing the main road leading to a lot of traffic noise. It was 8°C outside, yet no heater was available and no pagamas were provided to keep the cold out, needless to say the room was cold. The free launch accommodation was curry and it was so bad I suspect it has been the cause for the diarrhea I am currently suffering from (over 24 hours after eating it). The shower lacked pressure so I could not even wash properly. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
