Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsNothing was disapointing, everything was just perfect.
The staff was very nice and friendly. We enjoyed the amazing Japanese meals (breakfast and dinner) , very refined and delicate. The room was nice and quiet and taking a bath in the Onsen was another highlight.

MalaysiaI selected the half-board option because I saw reviews that dinner could be served privately in the room. However, upon arrival, they told me that we had to eat at the dining area. Nevertheless, Angela made up for the experience so that’s fine. The room assigned to us also has a fishy/old smell.
The location was very convenient. There’s a bus stop just outside the hotel. Also, one of their staff, Angela attended to us for both dinner and breakfast and she was very attentive and friendly. She really made our dining experience enjoyable.

AustraliaI have never had such a poor experience in any accommodation. The staff were unbelievably tude and unaccommodating. They refused to provide any assistance or information, even declining to provide information about local restaurants or activities. They refused to assist in arranging restaurant reservations, luggage transfer or anything else. They also refused to accommodate any variation in preferences. The breakfast timeslots are set and unable to be varied at all, even where different guests have different schedules. The faciltiies were outdated and in poor condition. As some guests had small tattoos, we were wholly prohibited from entering any public bathing space, even with cover ups, which was expected as per most onsen. We opted to reserve a private onsen at an extra cost ($50 AUD for 30 minutes). The staff mixed up the reservation times three times during the stay, calling our room constantly tonrequest we pick up keys for time slots we didn't reserve. The private onsen were small and in dire need to maintenance. There was a bar, which was advertised, but not open to the public, as it had been closed down due to the pandemic four years prior, but apparently never reopened. It is still advertised as open on their website. The garden path which is recommended was largely mud and dirt and has several construction signs, buckets and machinery. It tracks around the back buildings where you can really observe the appalling state of disrepair. We had a traditional Japanese room for three and the living space was barely large enoigh to fit three small futons. It was very unpleasant in the room. The balcony was quite dirty and had cigarette butts strewn around it. Similarly, the bathroom had several hairs and marks. We were told the room would be cleaned every day and were asked to vacate for three hours between 9 - 12. The room did not appear to have actually been cleaned during this time. There were dark, coarse pubic hairs and even a stain which appeared

FinlandUnfortunately the food, both dinner and breakfast, were huge disappointments to us. Not only the food was cold, even the parts that should’ve been warm, it lacked flavor and taste and was just bland compared to everything else we had during our four week trip around Japan. The information provided about the services and the location is also misleading. There’s supposed to be a bar and a lounge but it hasn’t been open since 2019 and there really isn’t much else to do at the location than staying in your room. They have a drink menu you apparently can order to your room but the selection is quite limited and the instructions unclear (the staff didn’t mention about the drinks when I was asking why the bar is closed) so we had to go to the family mart nearby to get some snacks and drinks. Also the actual bathroom of the room was in horrible condition with mold in seams and cracks on the tiles. We avoided using it and it looked like a health hazard. There are better options in the same price range.
The room itself was nice albeit it had a bit of a 70s feeling like the rest of the buildings. The staff was really polite and nice and offered great service to us the whole time. The private onsen was nice - noting spectacular but it was the best part of the actual room experience.

CanadaI understand the building is old and has history but the bathroom felt like it belonged in the 1980s. I have stayed at hotels with much nicer facilities for ¥6000. There is also a staff kitchen on the fifth floor so the entire floor including our rooms and clothes smelt like strong roasted plants. While paying up for the location, onsen, and the large breakfast I felt the bathroom really took away from the experience.
For what it was at the time, a last minute booking with a rentable private onsen it was okay. It was more affordable than anywhere else with availability and the room was quite large. Staff were very attentive and the private onsen was quite nice.

IrelandUnfortunately the property is dated, and the bedroom and common areas were very tired, and need updating.
The hotel is in a beautiful location with very good onsen facility. The traditional Japanese dinner was excellent, diverse and very well presented.
