How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The only thing, dryer didn’t dry well
Exceptional hotel, room was super good size, location was perfect, the food was amazing. Will definitely stay there again and we will recommend.

Nothing to dislike!
Brilliant location, about a 10 min walk from where all the bars, restaurants and shops are. The rooms were a very decent size with a great bathroom and the access to the bath was a touch

Only two washing machines for a very sizeable hotel. I know its not uncommon in Japan but when I saw it i was still surprised by how small it is.
Good priced for its location Great lobby bar with free drink. Helpful staff.

No tea and coffee facilities in the room. Whilst rooms spacious by Japanese standards the layout did not maximise the space however this wouldn’t put us off staying here again
Modern hotel in a very good location. Comfortable room. Very nice bar with one free drink provided excluding Sundays. Access to sauna was a plus and they had parking for our rented bicycles.

The room was a great and comfortable size, the modern aesthetics of the hotel were beautiful. The bath and sauna were so stunning and relaxing. Breakfast was great and staff were all lovely

I guess the waiting line to wash our clothes but this was not hotel fault. It was raining extremely on that day and everybody needed to clean their their clothes. To be honest I do not have anything bad to say about the hotel. It was great
Excelent treatment by the staff very helpful and very good location. Regarding the room was quite specious for Japan. I was so happy when I entered and saw the dimensions. If I go back to Kyoto I would like to stay again at this hotel and will recommend it without a doubt.

Pillow was not comfortable, our room was facing the street and you could hear a lot of noise (eg cars revving on the sempahore, police/ambulance passing by, etc). Laundry was a bit crowded, gladly I found a spot in 20 minutes but I saw a lot of people waiting more than that or just giving up entirely. Wifi was not the best.
Very fashion hotel, modern facilities and processes, staff was very helpful and the bath/sauna are nice after a day of walking. Room was stylish. PJ was really comfortable. You get a free drink for the DJ party.

The only thing I would suggest improvement are the pillows. Although new, they are high and kind of hard. A softer one would have been better.
Great location, amenities, restaurant, value for money, hot bath and sauna. It's a brand new hotel with comfortable rooms and very nice staff. I specially liked the hot bath and sauna premises - both in mint condition and extra spacious. Great showers, including one with aroma therapy in the sauna area. Staff were always kind and helpful. A complimentary drink per guest per night at the hotel bar was also very welcomed after a full day in Kyoto.

The room was very clean and modern. Onsen was really relaxing, especially after a whole day of walking around exploring the city. Staff was really friendly and helpful. It's really close to the train station, in case you need to commute to Osaka/Nara.

The check in time for the room was very late.
The hotel is in a very nice location, close to the main shopping areas - but far enough away to avoid the crowds. The hotel is very smart and modern, with very friendly and helpful staff. The food in the restaurant was also very good. The view from the room was nice over the rooftops and the room itself was a good size with a huge bed! The bathroom was also nice and a great and large shower. All modern and super clean.
