How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Room at 3rd floor, no view
Big room than average Japan hotel and well equipped. Good location, not too close to Kyoto station that mean a bit more quite & not busy. There is Lawson next door.

I was going to give a 10 but our fan in the toilet was broken during one night, they changed the next room for us and it's still broken. (The second day when we came back it worked.)

The hotel is quite close to Kyoto station, but then little far from most attractions. Room was quite good, breakfast also quite good. Wifi was really good and staff helpful.

Limited washing machine/dryer however the hotel is very close to a laundromat
Very close to the train station and Don Quijote for shopping. Staff were very nice and liked that they had extra amenities like hair straighteners/curlers, extra tooth brush etc. staff were very friendly.

The check in process wasn't that convenient, with a self check in machine, but the staff insisting on explaining even when help wasn't needed. the breakfast was fine but not great.
The hotel is located less the a 5 minute walk from Kyoto station, which is really convenient, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is nice and helpful.

We tried breakfast one morning (at hotel for 7 days) but disappointed as some food was cold and variety wasn’t the best, that is my personal opinion, but others may be happy with variety though.
Very happy with this hotel, clean, friendly staff, 5 minutes walk to train station, Lawson convenient store next door, comfortable size room, surprisingly as we expect smaller room in Japan.

The whole hotel was fantastic, big room and comfy bed, nice and quiet at night. The location was great, only a few minutes walk to Kyoto Station and a convenience store right next door.

Only faults i could find was a need for a little modernisation for the hotel rooms. Usb wall charge points, a smart TV that can link up to phones and a bigger mini fridge.
Excellent location, breakfast was varied and ample, bedrooms were very big as well. Loads of amenities and even offered massages. Just overall everything was great.

The bathroom was clean but had a never ending stench, almost like a sewage tank would but less strong. Tried airing out the bathroom with their in-room humidifier (since the bathroom itself doesn't have built in fans for ventilation) but didn't help much. Just kept the door propped open with a trash can. Seemed to help. The dryer never dried my clothes after 6 cycles. Tried splitting the load and even took out what few items felt dry before starting another dry cycle but, after hours of drying, items were still wet and ended up hanging everything to dry so I could finally leave the hotel and explore with what was left of the day.
Staff were friendly. Check in/out process was very easy via machine. A very hassle-free hotel. A great price for a great location that's walking distance to Kyoto station and a bus that took me straight to the airport terminal at KIX.
