Breakfast could have included a wider range of food.

The location was very pleasant. Hotel conveniently situated; breakfast adequate.  Small village with a number of suitable restaurants and food outlets. Onsen something that should be experienced but tub in room ideal.

Comfortable stay with great onsens for relaxing!

The building itself is a little bit old and the carpets can feel a little musty. But the place seem well cleaned so it wasn't really an issue. Also, if you stayed there for more than 2 nights and had the buffet breakfast, it can get a bit boring. On our second night we didn't book a meal at the hotel and tried to walk around town to eat but many places were closed so we had to settle for a meal that was just okay outside of the hotel as it seemed like the hotel's restaurants were fully booked.

Suimeikan was a comfortable stay halfway through our trip to get away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities and enjoy a quiet onsen town. The room was comfortable for 3 people. I particularly liked the tatami mat floor with the futon and the low table. However, I would have liked that area to have the sliding doors close off entirely to have more privacy. I loved that they gave us little snacks every day that they offered at their gift shop downstairs. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was a man able to speak English well to answer questions. The buffet breakfast had a Japanese section and a Western section. We stayed for 2 nights and the breakfast spread was basically the same thing. Would have liked to have some variety. I definitely recommend getting a kaiseki meal at Kita no ryo. The food was amazing and beautifully presented. It was one of our favourite meals in Japan. The flavours were unique and we were so full afterward from it too. We also loved that we had our own private room too. The onsens were great too. With 3 different onsens on site we actually didn't even use our hotel shower once. They were meticulously cleaned and never too busy despite the hotel capacity. We loved that we were able to walk around in our yukatas whenever too. The building itself had really nice gardens/ponds and picturesque areas to take good photos. They also had shuttle buses to and from the station. Though the walk is literally like across the road. It took us less than 5 minutes to walk. When we arrived we saw a man with the Suimeikan sign but we weren't sure if they were meant for us so we just walked. Overall, definitely a recommended stay! Comfortable and not overly priced.

The onsen size was disappointing for a spa hotel.

The breakfast buffet deserves 5 stars. The staff were very friendly. Watching our futons being made up for the night was a great experience.

I love everything about the property .

The staff are extremely nice and helpful. A wide spread of breakfast buffet (western and Japanese) and dinner was nicely curated to bring out the best of the local ingredients. The room was spacious and clean. This establishment is walking distance from the train station, and also walking distance to the shops.

Too big hotel with a lot of tourist and the room is that that clean. I sneeze and cough during I slept here.

The view and onsen are nice. The shop at the first floor has a lot of items, good to visited. The free shuttle bus is good and available every 1 hour.

The room was a ‘little warmer’ than I’d like but that was easily resolved by opening th windows allowing the fresh air of Gifu and the beautiful sounds of Hida river flowing. There really is nothing to ‘not like’ & “everything to love” about the Suimeikan!

We had an Eastern style room with private indoor Onsen, and it was a perfect way to celebrate being together in Japan. The staff and services are superior. The Suimeikan will be seeing us again next year!

It's a big place so if you're looking for a boutique hotel this isn't it. But it was quiet nevertheless

Amazing place with huge choice of baths (onsen) and great breakfast buffet. Location is literally 4 minute walk from the station, no need to take the hotel's shuttle.
