The hospitality and warmth from the staff was a highlight. A friend and I stayed 2 nights and absolutely loved it here. Such a great experience and really enjoyed the Japanese breakfast each morning. Perfect spot not far from the station and close to the river

Absolutely the best experience of our trip to Japan. In this Ryokan everything was perfect: the welcome from the very kind owners with matcha tea, the house adorned with antiques and a garden, the ancient Japanese style room overlooking the miyagawa river and a yukata available for guests yummy, authentic dinner and breakfast with typical local dishes like Hida beef. I strongly recommend coming to Takayama and sleeping here to have an authentic experience that you will remember, it's worth it.

We would have liked to have the option of dinner at the ryokan as some other guests did. When we asked, we were told no without explanation.

The shared baths were often occupied (and locked) by other guests for long periods of time, and so they were rarely free. I'd recommend setting a suggested time limit for the baths so everyone can use them.

Breakfast and dinner set meals were excellent, and the staff was very friendly and helpful! Also, the location near the Takayama historical areas was very convenient.

Beautiful, spacious, immaculate, Ryokan. Incredibly kind owners who made us feel at home. Delicious food, very comfortable beds, great bath. Our kids were so happy and comfortable here.

Everything was stunning, from the quality of the room, the to friendliness of the staff. It was a genuine ryokan in the middle of a beautiful historic city. Breakfast was also phenomenal.

The hosts were SENSATIONAL! I was welcomed by the most nice elderly lady, she showed and explained me everything even with limited English, I left to go on a stroll, came back to my bad made and my room immaculate. Awesome bath facilities, top notch Japanese breakfast, just don’t pet the cat.

The couple that runs this place is amazing and really cares about the guests. The food is fantastic, don't skip it. The dinner and breakfast are truly amazing. The spaces were lovely and the onsen was also great. This was so relaxing and refreshing. We came to Takayama for this Ryokan from a random internet recommendation and we are so happy.

You do not stay here for all the mod cons of a new hotel. You stay for an experience in an old-fashioned ryokan, a wonderful family running the place, a glorious onsen, and sensational breakfast. I've been twice now, and would stay again.

It was absolutely like a dream! It is the closest you can get to staying with a local family. The hosts were incredible and lovely and took care of us and it honestly felt like coming home to visit family. It was in a beautiful location and every room of the property was spectacular, clean and incredible to be in. Massive thank you to our hosts for the incredible stay, we loved it.

The most amazing stay in this cute Ryokan. We got the half board option and I would highly recommend, probably the best meal we have had in Japan. The staff were wonderful, and the onsen was divine. This Ryokan made our stay in Japan!
