Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaMt Fuji is only visible about 30% of the time. Not the hotel’s fault. It did appear briefly around sunset on the first day to give us a sample of her location and majesty. It was a bit disappointing to have the view impacted by the steel pillar in the middle of our balcony (to hold up the big hotel name sign). See main hotel photo. There are only two rooms on offer with a view from a balcony, the rest have a view from the smaller box windows. Also the view includes a set of overhead power lines right across the view (not shown in their hero photo). This impacts your photos but not your admiration for this mountain. I was also a bit miffed by having to sort out loading and unloading in the rain near the front door to find, from the window of our standard room (third night) that there are covered parking spaces at the side of the hotel. Our corner standard room was a good size but we had to sleep with both the window shutters closed on both due to the hotel’s spotlights (on the hotel).
We chose it as a base to explore the area. Great if you have a car. We chose to pay the premium for the balcony room with the outside bath (spa) as if offered a (chance of) viewing Mt Fuji. This was for the first two nights back in Japan after a 6-year absence after our last trip. Covid etc. We then checked out and checked into a standard room (no balcony, no spa). The standard room was good with a table we could sit at facing each other instead of many hotels.

ThailandThe staff could not communicate in English well causing some inconvenience. At the time of check in, there was some confusion from the staff (which I did not know what) with my reservation so it took quite a while. However, I realized they tried their best to help and I appreciated it. I think every room was supposed to see a panoramic view of Fuji. However, it was just unfortunate, there were some trees near my room's window so I could not see Fuji well. (But for my friend's room, the view of Fuji was excellent)
The hotel looked pretty old from the outside but inside, the room was beatiful, very spacious, comfort and full of facilities including fancy bath tub with a wall TV, pajamas, hair dryer, and curling iron, this was so impressive, which I have never seen in any hotel before!

United KingdomLittle out of the way BUT only an issue in the evening as bus stops just a few minutes walk and the buses have wheelchair spaces. Taxis cheap from outside the station in Gotemba but you'll have to transfer out of your chair
The staff at the hotel are exceptionally helpful and really friendly. I am a wheelchair user and the accessible room is actually accessible and the biggest I've stayed at in Japan.

AustraliaIt wasn’t a ‘didn’t like’ but just note that staff had very limited English (which is fine but just be aware if you are an English speaking traveller). A convenience store about 700m away but in the freezing cold - too far to walk. Staff did call us a taxi. Need to get off bus at Ninooka. The hotel is very obvious from the road!
Huge rooms. Our room had a spa, a sauna and a massage chair! Very quiet. View of Fuji.

SingaporeThe place is pretty run down and most of the facilities like onsen and pool table are not available. You will need to drive out to get to any food or convienet stores.
The room was big with 2 double beds and can accommodate 4 people, but on the website only takes 2 per 6. We booked 2 rooms for 4 pax, which we only used one room. The entrance of the hotel is facing Mt Fuji and our room also has a clear view of Mt Fuji.
