Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesArima onsen area is not a big town, with limited dining options. Seems overall business hours of restaurants in town are pretty tight. When checking in late night, which is another good option for this hotel, consider the dining plan.
Once stepping inside the room, i understood why their reviews are so good. Pictures on OTA don't show its charm enough. Literally a small apartment sized room with elegant-modern yet japanese style interior, compy bed, dining table with chairs and detailed amenities. Room temp can be controllable which is rare for Ryokans. A gentlemen showed us around whole facilities, asked us if we have any questions, took good time for greeting guest. It's hard to find a spacious room in Japan with limited budget, but this is exceptional. Most of all, hotel is in the center of town which is of up & down hills. Many of them. Pretty conveinient getting in and out of hotel to the hot springs and back to the room to relax. This is way better than the nearby ryokan I paid 3× more except there is no meal options.

Location was great, it was easy to access and the room was well set up. The foyer with the bathroom was very cold at night outside the cozy room so make sure you have some wooly socks or a warm undershirt for this. Overall, we loved our stay here.

AustraliaThe Japanese style room was spacious and well equipped. The check-in was super easy, and the staff were informative and friendly. The location is in the heart of Arima Onsen. Dressed in your yukata, winter jacket, and clogs (graciously supplied by the hotel), you are a few steps away from the well-known Kin no Yu Onsen and foot bath. The futons were super comfortable, too, giving you a restful nights sleep.

It’s very decent size and close to the public bath. We booked the Tabiyu Abrigo originally but when we checked in at the Gosonboh hotel , we were given another location , (just behind the Gosonboh hotel) , have to walk up the stairs . Keyless checkin. Staff was very helpful , helped us with dinner booking ,

NetherlandsNot much, enjoyed classic japanese living.
Great stay at a ryokan. Fine interior and a lot of space for 2 people. All the facilities is good and I enjoyed the home feeling. It is located near the bus stop, beside the busy street with all the tourist. During the evening it gets very quiet. The airco gave the warmth in the room. Great to have this as your base to discover the area beside Arime onsen. Would like to come back again.

ItalyWe thought we were staying in Kobe, whereas Arima Onsen is a couple of trains away from Shin-Kobe station. My fault, I should have checked better, but in the end everything worked great
Amazing stay in the magic town of Arima Onsen, incredibly helpful staff assisted us in checking in in an amazing traditional yet modern structure. Super clean with a very large bathroom and tatami bedroom, great services provided and magic feeling of traveling back in time. Highly recommended!

South AfricaSteep wooden staircase to access the room. Check in at hotel reception just near the bus stop information centre and not the address on the booking.com site. At the booking.com address Tabiyu Abrigo is a bar and only a small notice on a concrete pillar indicated that a hotel reception 150m away should be used and the room is 25m from the hotel reception. The staircase and ledges in the room need a good dusting. No meal options. Restaurants close at 6pm so plan your day.
The location was excellent. The beds and bedding were excellent and very comfortable. Very quiet. Ryokan type environment. The 2 public onsen facilities within walking distance. Very limited view from the windows. Street lights shining into the room could bother some people.

ChinaIt is pretty hard to me to find the real entry of the hotel. Seem the address of hotel has been changed once. There is a note on the side of the old address, saying that you should go to another place to check in, and the real hotel is in the neither of the place. Although all those place are not too far from each other. I took a photo and uploaded as attachment. The note says you should go straight when you see the red building (on the left of the picture) and check in on the front desk of the restaurant (on the right of the picture). Hoping this gonna help a bit. The insulation of the room are not so good, that the common disadvantage of the traditional Japaness building. I think all the people booking this room should know that.
The room is pretty decent, very close to the center of the town. The front desk are really helpful. And, they offer some discount of the hot spring ticket. Please ask them before check in so you don't have to wast it.

ChinaThe windows are not well shaded and there are no curtains. Even with the typhoon and heavy rain, it was still bright and somewhat disruptive to sleep.
The service staff is very enthusiastic! They helped us arrange a car to the Kobe Rokko, reducing the time we had to spend climbing the hill ourselves. The accommodations are small, cozy, and moody. Every thing is in a reasonable place. Only a 1-minute walk from Kin no yu.It is also convenient to all kinds of restaurants and stores. Please note that Arima Onsen does not really have an abundance of meals, so you can make preparations in advance.

United KingdomNothing!! we loved it here.
What a beautiful amazing experience it was to stay here. The Ryokan is situated just around the corner from Goshobo hotel up a picturesque side alleyway. We arrived early before the 3pm check in but we were welcomed by the lovely staff at the hotel's main reception, they took our bags for us so we could come back when the room was ready. The apartment is simply stunning, you get a real Japanese experience here. Everything is beautifully set out for you.the beds are so comfortable and you get to try on his and hers kimonos! that was a lovely unexpected addition which added to the whole experience. The village is so peaceful. Everything closes around 6pm even the restaurants, so prepare to eat early or bring snacks for the evenings. Location is perfect, it's a small town so everything you need is within a short walking distance. We loved our stay here, I highly recommend it and would definitely come back again to relax. This will be one of our most memorable moments from our travels in Japan.
