Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe have a very good experience at Tadaya. We are amazed by the amazing water views when you start walking from the entrance to the lobby. The hotel inside also has a lot of artwork. Staff are also friendly and professional. We will come back and try having the meals in the hotel next time. Thank you.

AustraliaBathrooms in the rooms were dated.
Beautiful but a little dated. The onsen was gorgeous, with view out to sea. It was a lovely setting. The rooms were comfortable but could do with a spruce up.

United StatesNeed remote control for the lights...no control near the futons. Also, admittedly this is petty, but having to pay 40 yen for coffee before 7 am was a bummer. At least drop cost to 10 or put a couple instant packages in the room. Only option for breakfast was a bento box breakfast ordered the night before. Usually not a problem but the place is a bit far from local restaurants.and conbini.
Great view from our room. Room was very comfortable and clean. Yukatas provided from main lobby so we could get the right size. Beautiful art, and tasteful decorations.

SingaporeTadaya is in a quieter location just off the main strip of Ryokans. Its unique location gave us a beautiful sunset view , seen from almost every part of the ryokan. The service staff were wonderful and thoughtful. We were there for 3 nights and were treated with a sumptuous and different meal each time, with the menu translated into English. The staff also took extra effort to explain the meal which allow us to appreciate the ingredients as well as the care in making it. Definitely the highlight of our trip!

United StatesNo negatives
We appreciated the large clean room and the huge public bath. The food was wonderful. But what made our stay exceptional was the very attentive and personal service. We have stayed in six different ryokans on this trip to Japan. Tadaya was the best.

United StatesThe bathroom was clean but the sinks leaked because the faucets were loose. While the staff was polite and nice, their communication was not clear on when or how to eat dinner and breakfast. They also forgot a course in the sequence of a kaiseki dinner and brought it out after the next course was served. The staff seemed rushed and short-staffed. They also did not explain the dishes or how to eat them. We also were not given an option for a Western breakfast style which was OK for me but my husband could not eat much in the morning.
The setting above the bay was stunning. The private hot bath on the balcony was nice.

JapanIt was disappointing that arriving at 2pm on a very rainy day, they would not let us get into the hotel building. Instead they told us to come back at 3pm when check-in starts. We asked if there was a possibility to get coffee or tea inside the hotel waiting for check-in time but the gentlemen at the entrance/porters said no.

SingaporeLoved the great hospitality from all of the hotel staff, making sure that the guests felt welcome and comfortable throughout their entire stay. Special shout out to Mayuki san (hope I got your name right) who was the staff assigned for my check-in and my main server during the kaiseki course - an amiable and cheerful lady who made effort to converse with me in English as I was struggling with my broken Japanese ^^ I had booked the cheapest available room, which was clean but seemed a little dated. Even so, no complaints given the price, and I was also lucky to have been assigned one with partial sea view. Best of all was the outdoor onsen overlooking the sea すごい!

United StatesThe special rate of $185/night from Booking.com is a great opportunity to spend a night in a ryokan with rooms that go as high as $1000/night. You won't get a lavish meal with awabi, ise ebi, and expensive cuts of Wagyu beef with this deal, but you will see what a first class ryokan is like. My room had a perfect view of Nanao Bay, which you can admire by sitting on a plush, genuine leather sofa. All amenities of the stay are first class (thick cloth on the yukata, quality of hand soap). Many antiques are on display at the ryokan. The ryokan is perfectly situated in Wakura Onsen. There is a pleasant, young hostess who speaks English.

United StatesDespite how they are portrayed in their marketing, they are a big hotel with at least 60+ rooms with a banquet hall and a gift shop. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but set your expectations right. Deco and rooms are moderately dated but well kept.
Great onsen with multiple pools, tubs facing the sea and a cold plunge pool. Good breakfast. Good value for the price paid.
