Nothing everything was perfect! It is important to know that there are some steep steps to get up to get to your room so if you have problems with this bear this in mind.

The property it is incredibly clean and well maintained in its fantastic traditional structure. The hosts are super friendly and sweet. Although their main language it is not English they do their best to fully communicate with you. You book your time for breakfast, dinner and the bath( which is private to you and your party). The room was very cool and super comfortable. The food was delicious and it felt like a feast all the time. I couldn’t recommend it more.

They don't see many English language speakers & having just reached Japan 2 nights before, my nihongo skills were were not in focus, so that could be a difficultly. It is an older building with somewhat steep stairs, which some might find difficult.

The ofuro was very nice and the in-room toilet was appreciated. The meals were fantastic & they were not busy, so we had great service in a private dining room"! They were very helpful with storing our luggage while we did sightseeing. There was snow overnight and it was beautiful to see on the trees in their small garden. A very enjoyable experience for my husband and I.

Everything was great BUT breakfast and dinner can be difficult to eat if you're a picky eater. But best to try and experience as their meals is what they're known for in the small town. The price of our 2 night stay was quite high, but that is to be expected of a ryokan-like stay.

Breakfast and dinner were very good and a memorable experience. A lot of the locals were jealous that we were staying at this hotel! You will need to be strong and willing to try (and possibly finish your meals) with interesting pickled vegetables and traditional Japanese meals that's not your typical city meals. We had a choice of when we had to use the hot onsen which was nice to share with my partner. Although it was more of a Giant bathtub with hot water, still nice though! We also had a private bathroom in our room if we wanted to Shower privately, which we didn't end up using anyway (because of our scheduled bathing was great and clean), Lile other comments said, the ladies were very kind and try their best to communicate and serve you with their limited English. Please do follow their check in terms so that your stay is pleasant!

Wonderful hotel! All the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. The twin beds are firm and the bedding was nice and warm for winter. The bathroom in the room is compact and functional, and there was the option of the private bath downstairs. The food was outstanding- the taste and presentation was incredible! Be prepared for a full stomach as everything was delicious! The breakfast rice bowl (plus the other dishes) was the best way to start the day, and coming back in the evenings for a home cooked meal was very relaxing and special. I hope to come back one day.

Traditional bedding can take a little getting used to but is part of the experience and as such isn’t a problem

Lovely building and interior. Comfortable, peaceful and welcoming. Easy walk from the station and a short stroll from town. Half board dining was exceptional. Excellent hosts.

Mate, it was good. Nothing much I didn't like. Awesome place !

We opted for dinner only as we had a full day ahead next day. Review from our group - Such magical view especially during winter accompanied by locally sourced food. - Food was fantastic. Vibes were immaculate. - I could not think of a better accomodation to start our trip to yamagata, I loved the well kept traditional inn features, the food. Everything

This was a great experience in Japanese style and hospitality and we enjoyed it a lot. Needless to repeat what everybody says, the breakfast is great. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to stay for another night and treat us to a dinner.

The food was delicious, plentiful and allowed us to try traditional cuisine as well as some new foods we hadn't tried before. An open mind is required for some of the sashimi's. The futon beds were very comfortable and the bathing room was amazing. The hostesses were so friendly and helpful, we were travelling with our 10 month old and they all loved him and were understanding when he was loud at times. We would love to stay here again in the future. Knowing basic Japanese or using Google translate is highly recommended if visiting this accomodation.

    Nothing

    - Very charming ryokan conveniently situated within walking distance from the JR Nanokamachi station and in close proximity to attractions like the Noguchi Hideyo Seishun Street and the Suehiro Sake Brewery. - The meals (dinner and breakfast) were the highlight of my stay. Having told the staff in advance that I had food allergies, they went above and beyond to servemeals for me that were safe for me to eat but also very delicious. The variety of dishes served was impressive. The staff also offered to create onigiri (rice balls) out of my unfinished breakfast. - The staff were very warm and accommodating and their interactions with guests contributed to the ryokan's very homely atmosphere. As a thoughtful gesture they gave me an akabeko keychain upon checkout as a souvenir - The private hinoki bath was a delight (note: you have to book it in advance during check-in) - The futon in my room was exceptionally fluffy and I slept really well

The best part of this place is the staff, extremely personable and friendly. Always ready to help with a smile on their faces. Other than that, the food is also another standout point with many local dishes that I have not tried else where before. Super memorable stay!

Highlight of time in Aizu was a night at at Tagoto ryokan, very attentive but unobtrusive service, relaxing stay, SUPERB dinner and breakfast. combined with a day visit to nearby Higashiyama onsen makes for a very memorable stay. Ask about the sake brewery and sake bar nearby.

Absolutely incredible place to experience traditional ryokan-style stay. The staff were over-the-top, never before seen kind, patient, welcoming to us, while being professional and flexible. The place is beautiful and well equipped to keep us warm on the chilly Aizu nights, and the breakfast was culinary masterpiece. The staff were even kind enough to make us takeaway onigiri from the rice we couldnt finish. Overall an amazing experience, I recommend anyone to come here, and I thank all the kind staff for their lovely hospitality, cant wait to come back!

The position is only ok, not particularly close to the station, or the Main Street. The bus system works well though. It’s not cheap, but you pay for what you get.
