Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaEverything was absolutely perfect.
One of the best hospitality experiences I've ever had. The facilities and the onsens were clean and simply beautiful. It was very relaxing. We were lucky enough to have a clear view of Mt. Fuji which made the experience even more delightful. The staff was exceptionally kind. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. The shuttle service from the train station is a welcomed perk. If you are looking for a Ryoakn experience during your stay in Japan, this is the place to do it. The location, though not central, is absolutely perfect to walk around this beautiful little town, near the lake with lovely shops and restaurants.

AustraliaThe restaurants nearby were packed or required reservations ahead of time for dinner, so it’s best arranged beforehand. A bit expensive for a solo traveller but the rooms were very spacious so would be value for a group.
The view of Mount Fuji from the room is fantastic, it would be hard to get this view from many of the other ryokans around this area near the lake. The location is close to the riverside park so you really get both the lake outside and the mountain view. The hot spring bath seemed to have a geothermal certificate for legitimacy. The host spoke English and there are only a handful of rooms so service felt very personal. It was exceptional and definitely a highlight of my trip. There are signs and information sheets in English.

SingaporeThere is no en-suite bathrooms because it's a traditional family run ryokan so everyone has to use the public bath. Its not a biggie but those who prefer to have a private bathroom to bathe/ shower might have a problem.
Hiromi warmly welcome us the sec we arrived that we knew we were in good hands. She thanked us for coming and although the hotel introduction said there were no porters and we had to carry our own bags to the 2nd floor we stayed, they did actually have staff that helped to heave our heavy luggages as we came on a 14 days trip. The view in the room was just stunning. Mount Fuji was right in front it beats many of the attractions view. There is a Lawson right in front of the hotel and there are many lovely restaurants in 5 mins drive radius. Alot of attractions were also just a short drive away. The breakfast served in the morning was very wholesome and they even gave us a set of 4 A4 pictures of the best views of Mount Fuji. The warmth and sincerity of the staffs here in Taiheikan definitely warrants a revisit.

United StatesThey provided a very good service. Very clean. I can see Fuji mountains from my room window. The breakfast is fantastic! The location is about 21 minutes from train station, we walked over there and they provided a free shuttle to take us to the station. The location is 3 minutes from the red bus line that you can easily go the places around 河口湖。

AustraliaThe only down side is that there is a little noise from the road. Earplugs if you are a light sleeper. We were fine though.

CanadaIt is a little far by walking from the station, but there is a shuttle by phone request until 5pm. On location: dinner options in the area may be limited depending on how busy the tourist season is. It’s best to either reserve (though many restaurants take phone calls only) or try to visit when the restaurants just open for dinner.
The warm and kind staff are wonderful, The ryokan's hospitality felt personalized and attentive. The rooms are very spacious! The hot springs were excellent, and because the ryokan is small, the experience is more akin to a private hot spring bath. The delicious breakfast makes an early morning hot spring bath even better. The decor is quite impressive. There are numerous detailed crafts and artworks, ranging from zodiac animal sculptures to the ryokan's own calligraphy pieces.

United StatesEverything was as expected or better. I loved the experience. I did see some bowers in the hallway but wasnt sure if it was for drying or just keeping the place warm since it was 3 degree c outside. It didn't detract from the experience.
Amazing view of Mt fuji and the lady was the friendliess person I've ever met. She helped us find local things to do and took car of all our needs. Our room was hot but the instructions on opening the window to cool the room worked perfectly. The hot spring part was excellent. During our stay we were the only ones in there and there was really no restricitons on if you had a tattoo or not that I saw. Traditional breakfast was amazing. It felt like an authentic experience from top to bottom. I wish they taught how to properly make tea though but nothing a little googling can help.

SingaporeWe had an amazing view of Mt Fuji directly from our room! Even though there was a language barrier, the owners were extremely welcoming, kind and made us feel at home :) Breakfast was yummy! Conveniently located across Lawson and there are restaurants around the property for dinner in the evening as well. Wished we stayed longer!

SingaporeNo bathroom in the room, but can always use the Onsen for washing up.
Family-owned, traditional Japanese guest house. Very friendly host who fetches and sends us back to the kawaguchiko station (about 10mins by car). Special thanks to Hiromi-San who is very welcoming. Great location very near to the lake kawaguchi and eateries. We were lucky as we could view the magnificent Mt Fuji for the 2 days we were there from our room on 2nd floor. Room is especially clean and tidy. Onsen is shared with other guests of the hotel. No private onsen, but quite empty the two times we were there so it’s almost private. Breakfast is traditional Japanese and great too.

Philippinesi wish there was a shower or bath in each room. although each room has its own toilet & sink… even a drinkable water faucet which has Mt. Fuji water which is Very good! But every time we needed to take a bath… We needed to use the Onzen( even to wash up at the end of each day. ) Thankfully very few guest were in the hotel so we kinda had exclusive use of the onzen facility most of the time. Also i wish they had a restaurant that allows you to order dinner.
Location is very good. its walking distance to the green line bus stop, a LAWSON across it, 6 restaurants less than a kilometer away. Also a grocery store. There is a bike rental nearby which allows you to see the surrounding areas of kawaguchico lake. Its family owned and the Watanabes are very nice and will do their best to make your stay comfortable. They will also fetch you and bring you to the train/ bus station as needed. The hotel was very clean especially the Onzen facility. they also have a shuttle bus which allows them to service big families / groups. The breakfast was also very good. Although, we wonder if they have any other menu available as we had the same food for two days. We felt like staying house guest rather than hotel customers.
