Wonderful stay at this temple, outside of time. My room was spacious and very beautiful, right next to the prayer room of the temple. The futon was comfortable and the food really good both at dinner and breakfast. The priest welcomed me and walked me to the tomb of the master of Minobu, and also helped me to explain how to participate in the morning prayers at the main hall. I wish I could have stayed there for a few days.

A very nice traditional Japanese experience in the heart of the Budhist temples from Minobusan.

The hotel is a local temple headed by a monk with accommodation facilities. We stayed 2 nights. Ryokan style, futon beds and mattresses on tatami. Japanese style room. We booked a large room for 4 and had the separation walls that we used to split in two. All very traditional with some local experiences offered by the hosting monk - prayers, sutra copying, bracelet making, yoga. The hosts spoke basic English and did their best to make our stay pleasant. Highly recommend the morning prayer at Kuonji temple nearby - 15 min by foot incl climbing the 287 steps - an authentic experience. From there you could take the cable car to Mt Minobu where you can have a nice view of Mt Fuji when is clear. Traditional breakfast and dinner. Reaching the place is relatively smooth but requires careful planning. We took the Shinkansen to Shizuoka, then the local train to Minobu station and finally the taxi to the hotel in Minobusan which was convenient and cheap for 4 pax. We used for all trains the JR pass. Need to be careful there is one train every 2 hours that connects until Minobu. However there are some other trains which stop in Fuji and you need to change which we wanted to avoid due to luggage etc.
