Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis exceptional stay left us totally amazed with everything. I am surprised it was possible to find such a special place via Bookings. We had a pleasure to stay in a super beautiful and cozy private house right by the 1000 year old trample overlooking 180 year old gorgeous cherry tree from our every window. The host is the monk of the temple and each steps of the experiences was just so thoughtful and special. Very tasty vegan breakfast prepared with love and care. Even tea and complimentary sweets were of thé highest quality. Each corner of the place is crafty, extremely clean and beautiful. Also really nice and good size private bathroom! The Ine village is definitely is one of the very hidden gems of Japan! A totally stunning place with nice activities and exceptionally fresh food. We enjoyed a boat trip around the Ine bay, a small climb to the hill to watch panoramic view and very nice dinner with the view in Wadatsumi restaurant. I wish we can be back to this incredible place and stay again at the Temple one day!

GreeceWhat a great find this accomodation has been! After being initially slightly dissapointed we could not get a funaya accommodation, after our actual stay, all I can say is how lucky we were to have experienced the stay here instead. The room was so spaceous, and bright, with all the facilities we would have wanted. The kotatsu has been lovely! All the decoration and overall setting feels so cosy and warm. Exceptional breakfast, with many delicious choices. Lots of flavor and fresh, local ingredients. Loved the pickles and the atsuki dessert! Everything was spot on! Much more than we could have hoped. Wish we could have stayed more to enjoy the room facilities even better.

ThailandIn the winter, the heater cannot cover such a big room The bathroom is outside the main room so it is quite too cold to go to toilet during the night. But the facilities in the bathroom is superb. One more thing, add the description/map to get to the room will be a great support.
Nice room and view. All the facilities are so good. Vegan Breakfast and snacks are delicious.

United KingdomNothing it was all fantastic.
Both Ine and staying in this wonderful place was the highlight of my trip. Everyone was extremely warm, welcoming and incredibly helpful despite language barriers! The room was immaculate and perfectly located and they made a reservation at a local restaurant ahead of my arrival which was the best meal I had in Japan. Breakfast at the property was delicious. Could not recommend this place more!

ThailandThe steps up to the temple were a bit difficult for my aunt (74 years old), however for the rest of the family we had no problem walking up the stairs.
The vegetarian breakfast was very good. The presentation was great, so was the taste. The temple owner was very helpful. He showed us exactly where to park and was very attentive. He can't speak fluent English however he's willing to help with anything we need. He helped us book a restaurant, book a sight-seeing boat. The room was very clean especially the bathroom.

FranceNothing to 'not like'
Our host welcome was fantastic, despite a much earlier arrival than planned. The room, which is in fact a building inside the small temple complex, is huge and would host 4 peoples without feeling cramped at all. The bathroom is very big and modern. No dinner option but our host had booked for us at an excellent fish restaurant 100 meters away (Yoshimuraya), and even waited for us when we made our first stroll in Ine Funaya to propose to anticipate our reservation, as he could see we were hungry :). Breakfast brought to our room was excellent. In the morning we had a small walk in the cemetary which is also in the temple complex, climbed a little bit to have a viewpoint (just above the room) and we met a family of deers - this stay was wonderful !
