Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United States4 loud drunk ladies in the main living area made it uncomfortable to sit there so was in my room all day. Hotel staff should maybe monitor how much alcohol is consumed so guests are not disruptive for other guests to enjoy the facilities
The location is probably fantastic but unfortunately it was totally fogged in for 2 days I was there so I did not get to experience the outdoors and ended up sitting in a mountain lodge watching Netflix. All part of travel.

MalaysiaShared bathroom probably is not for everyone, 1 of my friend did not take the bath during the stay due to too shy to share bathroom with others. other than that, all is good.
This is a lodge located just a little bit below Murodo, which is famous for the snow wall (Yuki no Ōtani). breakfast and dinner is provided, you can also take lunch at the lodge with a reasonable price, which i strongly suggest it. We stay at April for the snow wall trip and not really feeling cold in the room, not even using the heater provided despite the temperature outside is about 3 Celcius. Will definitely visit again in another season!

Hong KongIt is so good I am feeling no other place can match now…
Absolutely everything. From the moment I stepped in and was greeted; seeing the interaction between the staffs; knowing what they are capable of; being helped when I was having some sort of problems; I was even told to watch the sunset: I do not speak or really understand Japanese, yet I know I really should drop what I was doing and grab my camera and get to the back of the building. Because they are enthusiastic yet really polite as tourists all know Japanese are.

SingaporeThe WiFi can be weak at times in the room
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. A few of them were also able to speak English and Chinese! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. You can also get a wonderful view of the mountain right out of the window from your room! They also lend me snowshoe and long boots for me to walk in the snow, just right behind the lodging.

United KingdomIt was basic accommodation but it has everything you need and the staff more than make up for it. The WiFi didn't work consistently but you're in the mountains, so that will happen. Breakfast is served at 6:30am, which is quite early for me.
I loved my stay here. The staff were absolutely lovely and very helpful. They provided snow boots for free when my trainers were too wet and put them in a heated room, so that they could dry. They made every effort to make sure I was comfortable and regularly chatted to me, as I was on my own. The food was very tasty (dinner and breakfast are included in the price) and they provide packed lunch for a fee if needed. The shower was hot and the hot tub was small but lovely to soak in after lots of walking. The room was nice and warm and had a great view of the mountains. They show a documentary about the snow wall. They reserved my bus to Bijodaira for me and because it was raining, they told the bus driver to use the horn when he was outside, so that I could wait inside.

CanadaThe price was definitely high, but perhaps understandable given the beautiful, secluded location and the excellent service / meals!
We loved the staff at the mountain lodge, and the meals were super delicious! The bathrooms were also really nice (like a Japanese sento). It was enjoyable to relax in the bath after a long day of travelling and hiking to the lodge. The views were amazing. We got to see a beautiful sunset before dinner was served. In the early morning, we were driven up to Murodo station so that we could hike up Mt Oyama!

United StatesOnly thing is the hand washing area on the second floor only had ice cold water, but that's explained on the sign, so just go to the first floor.
Beautiful location in the mountains, close to the action but quieter than Murodo. Staff were super nice. Great food both nights/mornings, freshly baked bread. We would stay here again!

AustraliaAlpine crossing stop, easy to find. Lodge is pretty basic, and run efficiently to suit location. Meals at set times, limited access to lounge/cafe/dining hall at other times. Limited shared bathroom. OK for 1 night, but not an ideal place to stay indoors if you're planning a few nights stay. Lodge shuttle back to Murodo was helpful.

AustraliaOnce dinner was completed and a short information video of the local region was shown then the dining/lounge area was shut and you were back to your room at 8:30 for an early night. This was compensated by an early breakfast and a good night sleep.
A great mountain location right at the bus stop. Keeping in mind the “mountain hut” idea the facilities are basic but very good basic. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the owner drove us to the Murodo station early so we did not have to catch the bus for the short distance (about 2km).
