Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe mini bar in your room is already included in your hotel fee. There are a lot of drinks in the minibar. If you like drinking it's great! However, if you don't drink much like me, it feels like you've wasted your money on drinks you didn't drink.
The staffs definitely lifts up this hotel. The amount of attention they provide to their guests is outstanding. The room is clean, and bigger than average Tokyo hotels we've stayed. The free coffee in the morning at the lobby was nice to have. The city view from the room is enjoyable and the area is quite at night. It was overall a nice stay. The restaurant / bar is located at the lobby entrance which liven ups the place.

ChinaThere is literally nothing to mention.
I love the Aoyama Grand Hotel not only for its beautiful interior design and prima location, but also for its amazing and friendly staff that made our stay truly memorable.

United KingdomMinor thing is the elevator up to reception from street level which is also the entrance to a busy restaurant. You then have to cross to another elevator to access your room.
Excellent rooms, spacious and with fantastic in-room amenities. The staff are flawless. They truly go the extra mile and are very attentive. We were originally going to stay somewhere else on our return trip to Tokyo in a month but have since cancelled and rebooked with The AOYAMA Grand.

GermanyAbsolutely loved this hotel. Best hotel we stayed in Tokyo and probably one of the best that we ever stayed in. Mid-century design, big room, comfortable bed. The neighborhood is one of the prettiest in Tokyo. All was perfect.

AustraliaThe reception is on the fourth floor so you need to take two lifts to go to your room and back down to ground floor. Mild inconvenience if you arrive with a lot of bags and you have to lug them all up to the fourth floor
An amazing hotel - has everything you need for a memorable stay. Staff are very helpful, room is spacious and comfy, and the free minibar is great!

Latviathe smokling area for the whole hotel and on-site venues (restaurants, shops, some offices, i believe) is 3sq.m, with almost no ventilation, and no place to seat. i can understand (and to some extent understand) the country is fighting smoking, but i don't think that the right way to do it is to physically exterminate smokers :) Apart from that, it was closed after 12:30 am. (as it happens typically in the large companies, the protocols and routines are built to make operations smoother, rather than to fit the interests of the clients.)
the hotel is quite nice: well-made design (not outstanding, but definitely pleasant and also functional), great facilities, location, the view from the room on 17th floor was fantastic). great helpful staff, nice restaurants (haven't been there, but the menu looks quite promising). I would rate it as 9,6, unless the size (and the hours of operation) of the smoking area

AustraliaNothing really - TV options limited but that is common in Japan. Found the sports replays I was looking for on YouTube.
Great location for our needs. Quiet neighbourhood but a few stops to Shibuya or Shinjuku as and when we needed to go there. Beautiful clean rooms with well stocked and complimentary mini bar. Great view of the city. The restaurant/bar, the Belcomo, has a real NY Brasserie feel to it. Buzzy place popular with locals for brunch and lunch so make sure you book if you want to use it. Complimentary hot drinks and smoothies every morning. Front desk staff were outstanding. Super polite and helpful.

United StatesThere was not one negative.
The staff was above and beyond at every level of customer service. Hayato Furugori was the kindest and most helpful. If I were upper management, he surely deserves a promotion immediately. The rooms were spacious and amenities top tier.

United StatesThe lobby staff for the most part were pretty friendly. Although, I did feel on some occasions it was a bit stiff or not quite trained.
I loved their breakfast! I’ve never been the one to book a breakfast at my hotel stays. When I had booked this time, I thought it’d be convenient since we tend to wake up quite early. The dining room had sweeping views, friendly staff and delicious food! They had an array of options to choose from. The gym was also very clean and well kept. Location was about a 15-30 minute walk to the places we wanted to visit.

GermanyThe mattres of the bed was really hard and less comfortable, which is a shame as the hotel exceeded my expectations by far in all other categories.
The breakfast was amazing, there were western and japanese options which I really like. There was a lot included and also the option to book more for an additional fee, which is totally fine, as the buffet options were broad and really nicely displayed.
