Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe location of our room is very good for us, getting to Koyasan and biking the beautiful Nyu River Gorge. The sound of the train did not bother us at all. One thing you have to know when booking this hotel is there are no restaurants or grocery stores around. We picked up our foods each day before we get back to our room which is no problem at all.

JapanTrain nearly stops running around midnight, it is ok for us, but might be a little bothering for the people who sleep early.
This comfort room was the old office of the railway station, a very special experience for us to stay there for one night. There was no food around, so we prepared some in advance, we had a dinner prepared by the microwave oven, two bowls were very helpful in making instant miso soup. After having a walk, we came across the store selling persimmon. Very attractive fruit with a small amount of money. The storekeeper gave us one more, he said to us "it is a present"! Thanks for the presents to us: persimmon, kindness, and a special experience!

Hong KongNothing really - the train service stops at 11ish pm anyway. Ear plugs were provided.
Right at the train station, very thematic and historical. I did the Choishi Stupa Route (Koyasan pilgrimage trail) the next day so it was a perfect location (one station away and train ticket included in room rate) Lovely breakfast. Very clean and cozy.

Hong KongThere is a false impression that the property has a kitchen or kitchenette from the booking information. However, there are only very minimal things (luckily we asked and the host answered before we went). The kitchen facilities is barely enough for warming a ready made breakfast. There is no internet provided and the mobile signal at the location area is very bad (almost none). This makes travel plan for the upcoming days impossible.. About the complimentary ticket and breakfast, it would be better to provide more information such as suggested plan to go and come back. We tried to check the train timetable at the station, but we couldn't know which train will certainly stop at the next station and which train will come back to the property (in Japan, some fast train may skip some station). Without such information, it is impossible to plan a breakfast trip and come back to check out. So, the complimentary tickets and breakfast are wasted.
The situation of the property is interesting, especially if you have a strong interest in train. The property is clean. It is a good friendly gesture of a complimentary round-trip ticket and a breakfast at the next station; but this should be done better.

CanadaThere are no shops or restaurants in the town so you need to take care of eating or bringing supplies with this in mind - not a critique just something travellers need to know
It was right in the station very cute and quiet, everything you needed. The train tickets to the next station and breakfast very much appreciated. The ladies at the Station cafe were charming and friendly the food delicious!

NetherlandsNothing!
This is by far the best and most fun stay of our entire vacation! You arrive by train, hop off, check out, walk 5 meters and you open the door to your room. I mean, it doesn't get any better than this! The room is super spacious, it had the best beds we've had, a really nice Japanese toilet, a lovely bathroom with a nice tub, and very decent wifi as well. But the setting and vibe itself is definitely it's best feature. You'd think that the trains coming in at the train station would be loud and something that'll keep you up at night. But this wasn't the case at all. I wouldn't say it's well isolated per se but the trains just aren't that loud so you can definitely have a good night's rest. And I just really loved the sounds of trains coming in and leaving. Another cool thing is that the room supplies you with breakfast coupons and train tickets to go to the next station (Kudoyama) which takes just a few minutes. At Kudoyama station there's this small kiosk which makes amazing onigiri (rice balls) and miso soup (a pelgrims snack). With the coupon you can get a free breakfast every day which is definitely something we can recommend! In Kudoyama you have some convenience stores and restaurants so if you'd like to have diner or go to a convenience store, Kudoyama is your best option. Taking the train to Kudoyama and walking back to Koyashita is a very lovely walk and takes you maybe 50 minutes tops (some roads with little cover from cars though). Another recommendation is visiting Koyasan of course! The birthplace of buddhism in Japan. An amazing area with a lot of temples and a huge gorgeous cemetery. If you can, be sure to attend the Jukai ceremony at one of the temples. An unforgettable experience! You can easily spent an entire day (or even two) in Koyasan. You take a train, cable car and bus to reach this area but all very easy and straight forward to travel with.

United StatesIt's simply fantastic.
I've traveled to Japan twice, exploring different places, and I can confidently say that this place is by far the most interesting. Who would have thought of staying overnight in what is an operational train station? I must add that the photos don't capture the beauty of the room. My brother and husband were immediately thrilled upon entering; it's fantastic to see so many details that remind you that you're in a station. The beds are comfortable, and the bathroom and shower are beautiful. Additionally, we were given a breakfast voucher for the neighboring station. I'm glad I changed my plans and went for that breakfast; it was a lovely experience, not to mention the delicious onigiris. I wish words could express how fantastic this place was. I can only say that we had an unforgettable experience, and I undoubtedly hope to return. I wish all the best to this place.

AustraliaNothing. We were a bit concerned about the train noise but knew what we were in for and it wasn’t really much of a distraction.
Access was very easy and the room had everything we needed - clean, comfortable with good facilities. Knowing that food would be hard to find in the town, we purchased it earlier and the microwave/hot water was all we needed. The quality of the breakfast was exceptional. We were travelling back to Osaka that morning so it was easy to take the train one station further down the line, have our breakfast at the station and then take the next train.

SingaporeIf the sound of trains bother you, this might not be the place, as the trains run about every 20 min from 5am to 11.30pm. You can sometimes hear people walk past your door too as this is a functioning train station but it is usually quite quiet. Finally the station is at least 30-40min away from Koyasan and the nearest area with resturants is at Kodayama, one station down. So may not be the most convenient place for food.
The Wifi speed was one of the strongest in spite of the remote location. All the facilities were the most modern and up to date. The bathtub was so convenient, the shower temperature was just right, and the toilet bidet was one of the most impressive I've seen. The place was immaculately clean. No dust even on the window sills or behind the counter. We did see one beetle in the room but this place was in the middle of the mountains so that was expected. The complimentary Onigiri at Kudoyama station was delicious And the scenary all around was gorgeous. A mountain stream ran past the station and the sound of the water rushing past was so relaxing Finally my son and I love trains so it was a treat to see them go up and down past the station
