Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

United KingdomPriority access for hotel guests to the rooftop bar wasn’t such a great experience; it was difficult to obtain a comfortable table to eat … but a ‘walk in’ did. However it is a beautiful location and a lovely place to spend a warm evening. Hotel advised for future reference as the rooftop venue is operated by a separate concession.
The location is excellent. A wonderful welcome by all but especially from Robert. The rooms are spacious and the complimentary guest lounge is a great relaxing environment which is always fully supported.

United StatesThe area is horrifically busy so it is difficult to get in and out in a cab if traffic is crazy. But it is a gorgeous property in a gorgeous area.
Loved the location, the size of the room, the cleanliness of the hotel, the view, the shower pressure, the ambience, the people who checked us in. ALL OF IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!!

IndiaThe rooftop bar is run by a third party and has many tourists visiting the property thru the day / evening. Some of which get a bit rowdy. This takes away from the experience … I would have preferred a bar more in keeping with the rest of the hotel.

The rooftop terrace is really nice and we wanted to spend more time there, but there was no time to sit at the terrace after a dinner. I wish it was also open till the midnight.

We loved the comfort and elegance of the hotel, its location in the heart of the Kiyomizu area and the warmth and kind attention of its hotel staff. We were pampered by Yuri Nakamura of Concierge and by every member of thus wonderful property. And the lounge area was were all 14 members of our family converged everyday for 4 days. Truly comfortable, a home away from home!!

Hong KongThe traffic jam and the crowd of people around the hotel, especially in the hot season around cherry blossom. Be careful when you need to take a taxi there (with heavy luggage). Otherwise avoid the busy time.
The hotel is situated very close to Kiyomizu-dera and it is very convenient to go there early in the morning. The interior of the hotel is beautifully decorated. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a private lounge for snacks and drinks till 10 pm. Definitely a choice to stay in Kyoto.

Everything about it really. I couldn’t fault it. The staff are polite, friendly and helpful. A plentiful delicious breakfast and lounge access is included for all hotel guests as standard. The in room minibar is also free, such a nice touch. The turn down service includes hotel pyjamas which were perfect. The location couldn’t be better. Easy to wander out on foot. We’ll definitely be back and will bring the whole family next time.

Truly an excellent place to stay. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the location perfect with scenic views, a relaxing lounge with afternoon music, great views from the rooftop bar, violins playing on the weekend while we enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast, spacious comfortable rooms for a great night sleep, and easy walks to many great Kyoto sites. We will definitely return.

United StatesIf you are planning to visit the Kiyomizu-dera, this is one of the closest hotel from the temple. It takes literally about 5 mins walk up the hill to the temple, you cannot ask for anything more. If you ever been to this temple, it is a magnificent place to visit, but it is also very very crowded(all-year round). During the day, you would be stuck in traffic, just to get close to this area. If you ever stay here, tell your taxi driver to let you off by the main road before entering the loop, because the road is a 1-way loop, with the truck loads of tourists every hour of the day, it takes like 30+ mins just to go around the loop, and the hotel is located at the end of the loop. Wait, but there's more, this hotel is all about making sure the guests are well taken care of. From the room to the service, it is all about the little details, it is just excellent all around.

Area is packed with tourists during the day, but the hotel property was set apart and entirely serene. Gorgeous property, wonderful guest lounge available with complimentary refreshments.
