Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoom is a bit small but I guess that’s normal for Japan. Bed is a bit stiff and pillows aren’t very comfortable. Other than that everything was great 😊
The staff were the best part of our stay here. They were above and beyond helpful specially for us who can’t read or speak Japanese 😊

JapanWhile the bed looked big, the mattress itself was not comfortable and the pillows were very uncomfortable, so I did not get a good night’s sleep. Also, the air conditioning was not strong enough, so it was too hot during the night.
I liked the customer service, very polite and they spoke English for me. Although the bathroom looked kind of old-fashioned or not like a modern hotel, the shower was very good with good water pressure. The amenities were also nice.

ItalyThe size of the room was really small, even by Japanese standards. I was traveling with hand luggage and had a hard time finding somewhere to put it. The bed was more than 3/4 surrounded by the room's walls. As well as in other Japanese hotels, room cleaning was not provided (or rather, only after a certain number of days of stay).
The room was small but equipped with every facility. Its furnitures were new and functional. Quiet and stylish room. I appreciated the copious electricity plugs and USB ones. I appreciated also the starry roof of the lift. Soap, shampoo, hair dryer, safe, kettle, shoe horn, pajamas were available in the room. A toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, coffee powder, milk powder, etc. were available in the hall. The location is convenient for reaching all the main points of Tokyo (which, having no real center, requires some compromise).

New ZealandAll good.
Rooms were small (as is usual for Japan) but clean and well-equipped. Although consumables such as coffee and toiletries weren't supplied in the room, they were freely available in the lobby for you to help yourself as required.

Situated in a quiet suburb, 10 minute walk to a small station that got you all over Tokyo. 30 minute walk to the Imperial palace and gardens. There is a 7 eleven about 500 m away from the hotel. There are coin run washing machines in the hotel. Room was modern and clean.

South KoreaI don't have anything that I didn't like. At first I was a bit worried about breakfast not included but the convience store beside made up for that. As a solo travel this place was a good stay.
The place matches the photo's and the facilities it offers. For a 3 star hotel it was a really good place with a comfortable room. I didn't had any problems. The room was quite small so keep that in mind when travelling with multiple people but it isn't that much of an issue. There is also a convience store close by where you can buy some necessities. There are multiple subways which is a max 10 minute walk for the furtest one. The lines also takes you litteraly everywhere. The price is worth it for what you get. I would recommend this place!!!

AustraliaHeavy smoke smell in the smoking room. I should have expected it... generally tolerate it well at normal levels... but wow... we are talking about some serious smoking in a small airspace. This isn't for smoking lightweights and the front desk won't do much to accommodate you if there are any problems. Accommodating flexibility is not what I would use to describe the front desk -in general -particularly if you are not fluent in Japanese.
Location, price, restaurant were all good. You could smoke like a chimney in the room, if you wanted -which obviously somebody previously had thoroughly enjoyed. Smokers delight? Generally clean.

HungaryThe room has no window and makes the air very suffocating inside. There's an air purifier but it's not like fresh air from a window. It's also incredibly small. The air conditioner blows onto your bed so it makes it either vey warm or very cool.
The facilities are not bad and the location is fine too. The room is equipped with a universal xharger, a TV, and some other stuff that are useful. You could also ask for the room to be cleaned whenever you want or have the towels changed.
