How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The room we booked was spacious for two people and included a table seating area and an in-room washing machine. The bathtub was also spacious enough for a 5'6'' person to sit and stretch out in.

Carpet needs replacing. Patchy and dusty in areas. Needed to leave a key in roo to keep bathroom fan on or got smelly. No onsen.
Friendly reception. Free tea/coffee station. Lovely breakfast in a nice setting and sweet staff. Comfy beds/bedding. Super handy to have washer/dryer in room.

The pillows were a little on the hard side
Great location with nice modern and secure rooms. We stayed in the annex which had a coffee machine as well as a water and ice machine which was super convenient as Kyoto was very humid. The staff also handled our luggage forwarding as well as luggage receiving efficiently and even had our luggage ready in our room when we arrived!

They can offer more cleaning during our stay. They have 2 building in the street, although its walking distance you need to understand where you stay, the main building or the annex building
The best place to stay in kyoto, my room was big and the staffs are the best. A female staff in the reception help me to call Kobe sando outlet and help me to recover the items that i left on Kobe Sando outlet. The items are sent to my next tokyu stay hotel in ginza, it was received perfectly. Thank you so much for your help! Your service is above and beyond. I will be happy to stay here again when i visited kyoto next time. This place is also walking distance to everything, from train station, good coffee at stumpton, foods, convinience store and close to teramachi area.

We felt that there could have been more variety of foods on offer at breakfast. Particularly of the breads and pastries which were the same for the full five days. Also only American thick sliced white bread was available. Fresh Brown bread and seeded bread would have been welcome and different jams and other spreads. Only strawberry jam was available. Other flavoured jams and honey would have been good and peanut butter and chocolate spread for the children in particular. Also, while there were a good selection of Japanese foods available the Western foods were disappointing.
The staff were friendly and helpful and hardworking. Our resident twin room was comfortable but perhaps not as spacious as we were expecting. The washing machine/dryer was useful but we couldn't find the sheet of English instructions for it in our room. One of our neighbours showed us hers. The location of the hotel was good. Very near two underground stations.

it’s in the nice neighborhood, located nearby karasuma subway station. conbini’s are accessible as well. i love staying in this hotel, The room is spacious with oven and laundry machine. the breakfast buffet is my favorite! and the hotel staffs are welcoming and very helpful.
