United StatesThere was not a smoking area and the hotel has a curfew and the doors are locked until morning. As an early riser, I enjoy early morning walks and was not able to do so until the door were unlocked.
This hotel was Beautiful and Clean. The rooms were very spacious. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The meals were superb!

A 800 year old traditional Ryokan with amazing mineral spring bath onsen. The futon beds were lush and comfy, the room was very large and the dinner and breakfasts were exceptionally delicious. The building was well made and very well kept up. The staff was gracious and went every extra mile to be the best hosts. So glad we stayed here on our first trip to Japan.

CanadaBreakfast and dinner were both incredible and mediocre, depending on the staff serving. Our first meal was absolutely perfect, with an incredible employee taking care of everything. We had a different employee for two meals, and they were much less proficient.
Private hot spring and sauna were incredible. Two bathrooms really helped. Absolutely the best equipt designed and decorated accommodation I have had the pleasure of booking.

We had the kaiseki dinner and private sho-fu which we booked in advance. Highly recommend both if this is your first time staying here. The place was stunning and would definitely book again. We regret not doing a longer stay.

United StatesThere are 2 options of private onsen. Make sure you pick the more expensive one that’s location in-house of the hotel. It’s beautiful and quiet.
This place is one of the oldest in the area. Each corner of it is a scenery for photo shoots. Also location is great, it’s right next to the bus station. No need to walk uphill.

SingaporeSmall thing. Just a little baffled that they kept our footwear in the cold/outside somewhere (we were there in winter) as we entered the hotel. While it was cosy everywhere in the hotel, it wasn't the most comfortable when we were heading out or leaving and they returned our footwear to wear icy cold boots/shoes. 😅
Love everything about it! Too bad we were only there for one night. Food was lovely as well. The hotel graciously deployed a vehicle to pick us up at the station (just give them a call when you reach the station) very comfortable check in process . They also drove us back to the station when we left. The staff were wonderful and friendly. They have English speaking staff. The room has 2 massage chairs which we really appreciate and used well haha. The location of the hotel is very convenient for us to take a walk and explore around the town.

United StatesStaff were so friendly and tended to all of our needs. We felt so taken care of here. Seriously every staff member we came in contact with went above and beyond. We came from the Hankyu express bus and the station was 1 minute walk from the hotel, so that was neat. The room, on top of being spacious, had two massage chairs that definitely helped us recover from walking so much on previous segments of our trip. Special shout out to the two ladies at front desk that helped us call a taxi on our check out day. They took care of everything and bid us good bye as our car left the premises. Also to the older lady and gentleman who saw us leaving our rooms with our suitcases and immediately called over someone to help take the luggages downstairs.

AustraliaThe heaters needed to be cleaned, there are layers of dust surrounding the outlet areas, and some of us are allergic to dust, resulting teary eyes, itchy nose and cloudy head. this is easily overlooked as the heaters are conceal in cabinets
overall, we enjoyed our stay; everything was as described and expected. It's very well maintained with updated amenities considered such an old establishment. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and generous portion.

United StatesThe walls are paper thin, we slept for only a few hours. We could clearly hear the footsteps from upstairs in the midnight, around 1am, and were woken up by people talking in the next door in the early morning.
