Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeStaff didn't reply to my email queries regarding shuttle transfer from train station, although they provided a free transfer on check out. There's an extra charge of ¥300 per pax, not sure for what

The hotel is well maintained, though quite dated. Location is good, right opposite a convenience store. The view from the window is great.

Hong KongThey did not provide kettle in the room but there is a vacuum flask provided where they will help you fill with hot water and you may get more from the flask provided at the corridor of each floor. In terms of location, there is not much restaurants nearby hence we opted for breakfast and dinner at the hotel. You still can get food from the convenient store opposite the hotel if you want.
The room has amazing view of Lake Toya although the room was dated and old but considered spacious for 2 persons in Japanese hotel standard. Green tea and some snack is provided in the room and the staff will help with the futon (lay for us in the evening and keep it from morning onwards). The onsen is great and not crowded when we went although it is open for public as well as hotel guest. The dinner provided is delicious with many side dishes and the breakfast is typical Japanese style. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel where we can take to Mt. Uzu Ropeway.

SingaporeThe room is very small and with the futon laid out, we can hardly walk within the room. Dinner is delicious and different each day. The portion was too small as we have 2 young adult sons. They were still hungry after dinner.
The traditional Japanese dinner and the courtesy of the staff are commendable. The dinner is delicious and well served and the staff are fast and polite to requests even though we don’t speak Japanese language.

SingaporeMaybe should consider to refresh the hotel...make it more modern and new. The bulky door key... should replace with card
Good location, near to convenient store and restaurants. Love the cave onsen.. Traditional room with futons, might seem old but it's cosy and rustic feel. Additional wash basin outside toilet. Staffs are friendly, daily housekeeping. Hot, cold drinking water are refilled daily, towels and yukuta are also changed daily. Staffs even set up the futons bedding when we were out.

TaiwanThe breakfast was very poor, and the whole hotel and the room are really outdated, the lights looked very dimmed and kinda haunted vibe lol Definitely need a renovation ASAP. And the next thing is not about the hotel itself, it's about the terrible firework, don't come here just for the firework, the firework was a huge joke.
The location is the best of this hotel, right next to the lake, a convenient store right across the street. Onsen is also not bed but it's more like a regular big bathroom, don't expect too much.

United StatesThe super bright lighting in the "large tour" group banquet room for meals
Check-in staff and restaurant staff were friendly and efficient. Older hotel. The view from the room on our upper floor was amazing. Had a traditional room with comfortable futons. Unlike many hotels nearby this hotel looked directly over the lake and was right on a nice lakeside pedestrian walkway that had various tour boats, swan boats, etc. avail for rent. The men had an indoor and a really nice outdoor garden onsen to use. The outdoor onsen had a section of very hot water and one a bit more comfortable to us amateurs. We were treated to a fireworks show over the lake at night. (As another reviewer pointed out this hotel enjoys the first half of the show and to see the second half you would have to leave your room and walk on the pedestrian sidewalk around the corner ). Meals are in a large basement very brightly lit banquet room that accommodates tour bus groups. We enjoyed a very good set meal for dinner with a nice sake and a not so nice sake (avoid the sake with the beautiful lake toya photo). The large ( almost exclusively Japanese ) breakfast buffet was fine and had lots of options. Certainly not as elegant as many of the breakfast buffet spreads we enjoyed throughout Japan but certainly enough options. A cute "hand onsen" out front of hotel. Very nice stay, great value, and would definitely recommend this hotel.

SingaporeThere’s noise outside my room during the day until late at night. Notice some hotel staff clearing and washing dining wares in one of the room. I stayed on the high floor. Luckily I only stayed for one night.
Hotel facing Lake Toya. There’s walking trail around the lake. There’s also onsen in the hotel.
