Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeThe room size for two of us was okay, but if we have brought our luggages up, it might be a little cramp. The aircon seemed to be blowing out hot air so it was quite warm at night. We had to open the window a little. There was no hot water from the tap at the sink area.
Convenient location to main attractions. View from the hotel is amazing- able to see Lake Toya, the islands and Mt Yotei. The onsen was well-equipped, including a sauna and different kinds of shampoos and conditioners to try. The onsen on the 8th floor looks out to Lake Toya and Mt Yotei - which was stunning. There are some individual seats at that onsen which allows you to enjoy the view and the onsen simultaneously. The buffet breakfast and dinner served a wide spread of delicious food. Beverages and dessert at the Blossom Cafe were quite good!

SingaporeThe slope path to the main lobby. I fell down when I was walking to the main lobby. Please take note when walking to the main lobby from the main road. The toilet is too small, and the furniture is quite old. The room price is too pricey. I was arranged a seat near the return tray area even though there were a lot of empty seats during dinner time.
Lake view in the room. Spacious room.

AustraliaThe bathroom ensuite was quite tiny, and the ventilation seemed to be broken. I enjoyed the onsen but still wanted to shower in the morning.
- The room was spacious and clean - Wonderful view of Lake Toya - Fabulous breakfast and dinner! Make sure you get the half-board option. They have a huge dining hall and tons of delicious food - Cafe and small library on the ground level

China(1) The Taiwanese staff (the girls) at the restaurant didn't sound polite. I didn't not feel good with the tone when they talked to me. And I've heard those girls chitchatting by the tray returning table several times. I don't know it's considered loud speaking, but if it's affecting my eating mood then they were definitely not whispering :( (2) The second morning, I got woken up by the super loud noise outside. The noise started appearing slightly after 4am, I tried to bury my head in the quilt and continue sleeping. Then around 6am it got crazily louder. It sounded like I was sleeping right next to a car engine fixing factory! Is it legal in Japan to start any noise making construction or working this early in the morning?!
(1) The staff at reception were all very friendly. The Japanese uncle was nice to try to explain the information in Chinese and English phrases, the young Japanese gentleman and the Southeast looking girl all spoke perfect English, very helpful all the time~ (2) The onsen was great, nice view, comfortable temperature. (3) The sunset view from the lobby cafe was beautiful and the place was absolutely so peaceful to wjust sit and chill.

SingaporeToo crowded at meal times...many tour groups rushing around for food at buffet times. Though there was enough food and staff to serve people but just feel a bit rushed . The onsen was also very crowded when I was there.
Right in front of Lake Toys and Mount Yotei. My rooms had great views of the lake but unfortunately, they were on the first floor, meaning everyone walking outside on the lake was also able to look into our bedrooms. Big spacious rooms with coffee table and seats in front of window to enjoy the good views of Lake Toya. Very good buffet meals, with a big selection of food. The bus from train station stops right in front of hotel. Shops across the street were convenient too.

ThailandThe temperature control in the room was very bad. There were only four settings for the room temperature - off, low, medium and high. With the setting at off the room was too cold. With the setting set to low the room was too hot. There was no way to set a comfortable temperature. The hotel seems to cater to a lot of large Asian bus tour groups. In the morning and afternoon the reception area can get very busy with tour groups arriving and leaving. Between these times the hotel is very peaceful.
This is a large hotel that is right on the shore of Lake Toya. There are beautiful views of the lake and Mount Yōtei from the breakfast room and lounge area when the weather is clear. The bedroom was a decent size for a Japanese hotel. The breakfast buffet was good - even though there were a lot of people at the hotel, the organisation of the buffet was very good. You can pick a time for a breakfast sitting. There's a large selection of Asian and Western food options. There are separate serving stations for each type of food and many coffee machines at different locations around the breakfast room. Even with a lot of guests it's easy to get your breakfast without a long wait. Other hotels should learn how to serve breakfast efficiently from this hotel. Even though the hotel was busy with large tour groups the room I was allocated was very quiet. There is a lovely walk around the shore of Lake Toya with sculptures. Even with the large tour groups arriving you can find peace and quiet by just walking away from the hotels for a few minutes.

JapanThe food quality at the buffet is not really good. Crab is only available if you are willing to pay a supplement. Room is spacious but not really comfortable (old carpet, toilet next to the sink and bathtub ...). Heating can not be controled very precisely (off, low, high) and it was too hot for me even on low setting.

SingaporeRoom is a bit cramped. Breakfast and dinner can be crowded with tour groups. Food was okay, not fantastic. Laundry room only had 1 machine and was very very far away. By the time I trekked there and find that the machine is in use and walk back, would take 15min. Not well signed either.
Love the views of the lake and mountains from the room. The onsen was also excellent, with very good washing facilities, shampoo, hairdryer etc. 7-eleven was right across the road.
