Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLong walk for dinner past the noisy amusements but this would depend on which part of the hotel you were stopping in.
Cave onsens were fun. Food was good but didn't vary although as we stayed 3 nights we received treats at dinner on nights 2 and 3. Shuttle service was efficient, both by boat and minibus. Room view over the harbour was entertaining.

MalaysiaThe buffet was so so only. We stayed 2 nights but the food served are pretty much the same. The hotel is so big and we are kind of confused at the beginning
The cave onsens are nice, we stayed in 2 different wings, both are nice. Love the one facing the ocean more.

AustraliaNot a lot to say. If you don't like the old style design and furnishings, and like shiney new places this is not for you. Perhaps one thing to note is that the boat access from the pier stops after 7pm, so the option of dining in town and coming back would mean an early dinner, however the buffet dinner has to be had for the experience.
Love the old 50's/60's style decor, and the absolutely outrageous design concept. 4 separate buildings on a small peninsula with tunnels cut through the rock connecting the 4 buildings. We stayed in a building with a view of the harbour. Very spacious room (10 mats to my recollection, with an annex of 4 mats), with ensuite and toilet. The views were good and the sea cave onsens were amazing. The buffet dinner and breakfast was extensive and really not too bad considering the scale of it all. The vibe was cruise ship on land. Other great things - the indoor amusement arcade, indoor shopping arcade in one of the tunnels, onsite combini, and of course the onsens. There is also the outrageous escalator which ascends some 80 metres through the rock. Absolutely worth visiting for the vibe, the decor, the architectural concept and the cruise ship on land feel. The description of "Bond Villain lair" which has been used definitely fits.

Hong KongBreakfast and dinner is a bit crowded with many food choices. Good service by staff. Lots of people staying in the 4 different hotel sections. Check in with car is troublesome as you need to park car at city parking lot and take shuttle bus to port then take ferry to hotel - a bit tiring as you need to carry luggage with you. Check out is easier as there is shuttle bus taking you to park lot to collect car.
Excellent view facing the harbour. Interesting onsen inside a cave setup with view of the . Huge hotel complex with lots of amenities.

United StatesThis is a huge hotel that gets bus loads of tour groups, so buffet could feel crowded and not relaxing. Room furnishings had some wear and tear, but was clean and the real tatami mats had their lovely straw smell. The hotel looks like it's seen better days in some sections as you walk through dreary connector hallways and such, but there's plenty of other areas to enjoy. Extensive buffet choices, but the same each day. For staying a second night, we received special sashimi not available to everyone.
Soaking in an onsen built inside caves over looking the ocean was a great and unique experience. Several choices of onsen that were available at different times of day. Very spacious room with fantastic sea views. Hotel shuttle ran regularly and continuously we never had to wait long. Buffet was great and staff were wonderful and gracious. Most generous and best sashimi and sushi at a hotel buffet in our five weeks in Japan. My husband raved about the tender morsels of beef slices.

CanadaAs many for others establishments, failure to instruct foreign customers on good manners, particularly in the onsens. Food just ok, wait after the rush for the buffet.
What I liked may be what you won’t: this place is aging. Like rural Japan, it’s has remained almost unchanged since the bubble burst in 1990ish and so, this is time travel in another era, the Showa era when Japan was booming. Long, odd tunnels that connect onsens and 4 buildings built atop a rocky island, man, this is Sean Connery’s James Bond material. Our view over the ocean was spectacular and for that alone, I would have stayed longer. Not to expensive either.

ChinaThere are not many choices for restaurants, and the buffet for breakfast and dinner is even below average. The public area is out of date.
This is a huge resort, like a small village, sitting on the peninsula, from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain. There are several buildings connected by tunnels and the longest escalator in Japan. Due to a schedule change, I extended my stay and experienced both the main building, which faces the port, and the Nissho Kan building, which faces the ocean. Personally, I love the Nissho Kan view much better. The cave onsen is the highlight. and do not miss the observatory on top. The hotel provides shuttle ferries and buses, which is absolutely helpful. If you want to see the tuna market auction early in the morning, take the 6:40 shuttle bus.

SingaporeA little old and many tour groups.
The incredible views were from the room. Huge and comfortable. The onsen was amazing and you have options! No over crowding. Breakfast was a good spread and the sashimi were fresh and good. We stayed two nights and were given a special sashimi dish. Despite the group, meals were well managed and the property is huge which gave space to everyone.

SingaporeBreakfast and dinner buffets average quality, soups mostly lukewarm. Last ride to hotel end too early. Last bus from carpark and last ferry from pier to hotel end at 7.30pm. Different staff gave different timings for last bus to hotel. Stayed 3 nights, did not have chance to try the ferry ride.
Cave onsens are unique, great for watching sunrise. Observation decks also great for catching sunrise and sunset. Had room with seaview and sunset facing which was very nice. Breakfast at Sunrise restaurant has large windows for sunrise view!

United StatesThe facility is tailored to high volume, family visits of short duration. No criticism there, it was well suited to that. Great for a family with kids who are looking for easy dining, distractions for the kids, and good value.
The Onsen was wonderful, especially the caves by the ocean. The meals were served buffet style and the food was plentiful and good, but not great. The location is terrific, with ocean or bay views and easy access by public transport to the Nachi waterfall, a truly worth it stop on the Kumano Koto trail.
