Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeI like the yukata of this hotel, but I did not check whether we could buy it
definitely the 2 natural hot springs (onsen) inside the 2 different caves, I was amazed by the 2 natural hot springs built inside 2 caves. it was the best onsen I ever had. it was very cool to have the view of the pacific ocean while soaking inside the onsen. We booked 2 nights japanese style room which includes breakfast and dinner, it was great and the room is spacious and comfortable. We also tried shuttle van and shuttle boat which brought us to the hotel from the jetty. Forgot to mention, this hotel is a huge resort which we could went up to 32 floors (top of the hills) for awesome panoramic view of the whole area and also the sunrise (it is a must-do itinerary). Location is good too, quite near to Nachi falls and Kumano-kodo trails.

United KingdomLike the lair of James Bond villain, the hotel extends into the rocks, different onsen and restaurants connected by long corridors and the famous space walker escalator. It's a great experience to stay here!

United Stateshotel is a little dated
Amazing onset in a cave! Hotel is huge and a little dated. We enjoyed reading their history on the wall that involved construction of the hotel including the tunnels and one of the longest escalators connecting the buildings, what an engineering feat!!! Hotel is in an island reached via ferry that comes often, you can also reach via shuttle through the tunnel. Dinner buffet was really good with many varieties. We enjoyed the onsen listening to the sounds of the ocean. Many Japanese and westerners comes here for vacation. A great place for respite after Kumano Kodo.

AustraliaTheir complete inability to cater for vegetarian guests or even to advise them on dining options without meat and fish. When I made enquiries about this (months earlier after making my room reservation), their response was simply that vegetarian meals cannot be provided even if requested in advance and that all the restaurants inside the hotel offer buffets only. They didn’t say there would be enough vegetarian food to choose from in the buffets and I certainly wasn’t going to pay full buffet price just for a few pieces of salad leaves and fruits. It is a great pity to be paying a room rate as high as this to stay in the hotel and not even being able to have a proper dinner while there. To make things even more difficult, their shuttle boat stops running just a bit after 7pm, which means vegetarian guests must either have dinner in town very early, or pay for an expensive taxi to get back to the hotel later. However, after arriving at the hotel, I realised that there is actually a Lawson convenient store onsite, which sells packed meals including some meat free options. I wish the hotel had advised me of this before I reserved a place in town for a very early dinner, and that afternoon I had to cut short my enjoyment of the amazing hot spring in the large cave and rush like mad to get to the restaurant in town in time. There is also at least 1 restaurant in the hotel which appears to have an a la carte menu, which could well have some options free of meat and fish if I enquired, but I wasn’t aware of this possibility earlier. Other than the unsatisfactory dining arrangements, the room itself as well as the décor of the hotel as a whole look very tired and rather unattractive (think mainland China in the 80s…), while lacking any classy ‘old world’ charm. Rather disappointing for the prices charged, which are extraordinarily expensive for Kii Katsuura.
Several hot springs (onsen) to choose from, including 2 inside caves, basically in an outdoor environment, allowing you to admire the beautiful sea while soaking in soothing hot water. An added benefit of outdoor onsen is that the water is less likely to be scalding hot! My own room also has great sea views through the wide windows. Good directions / signage provided inside the hotel showing the ways to the various hot springs. Ensuite shower facility in the room is greatly appreciated, unlike in some other onsen accommodations which only provide shared bathing / showering facilities.

United KingdomBuffet style meals were of lower quality than any other meals on the trip. The hotel was loud and noisy with lots of shopping areas between buildings and young children. Perhaps better suited for families than a couple. Hairs not cleaned from the floor in shower was not appreciated and I had to spend a minute rinsing this down the drain.
The Japanese Style Room was excellent with a fantastic sea view Buffet style meals were generous with lots of sushi and sashimi.

United StatesIt could use some updating, although not sure that wouldn't spoil some of it's charm.
All the staff was very helpful and friendly, even though we spoke only English. Even if they couldn't speak English they tried their best to be helpful - and always were!

TurkeyTakes a while to get between certain parts of the hotel. I wish there had been a way to change out towels because you hop between onsen but your towel gets damp (we don't mind reusing in general, but it's not pleasant reusing a damp towel so soon after).
Onsen was really cool. Breakfast and dinner were delicious with many high quality options. Good for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Lots of vending machines and the Lawson for snacks/drinks/souvenirs. Super clean. Was nice having the ferry and car shuttle. Overall it was a really pleasant experience.

United KingdomThe staffs are very friendly and helpful, but generally the service lacked the personal touch. Although I might be spoiled by the high standard of services provided by other onsen hotels, e.g. served welcome tea, dinner in room etc. This one is more of a mass production type, both dinner and breakfast are buffet at dining hall, there are tea bags/kettle in the room you can help yourself with, more do it yourself style.
The cave onsens inside the hotel are amazing. The hotel itself is also very big, contains four buildings and a fairly big rooftop garden, even has its own shrine. The big cave onsen is definitely the highlight, they also provide day pass for people who just want to use the onsen.

Hong Kongwe stay for 1 night with 2 meals, the check-in (after 15:00)and check-out time (before 10:00) and the meal time (07:00-09:00 for breakfast /18:00-20:00 for dinner) are not allow you to enjoy the onsen service in convenience time slot, you may need wake up at early morning if you want to enjoy different onsen. Most of the onsen open for use in 05:00-12:00(but you need check-out before 10:00) /16:00-23:00. the water from bathroom is bad, the tube maybe too old, the water come out is yellow color, you need release the water around 2-3 mins then the water will be clear for shower.

MalaysiaThe hotel is huge and it takes time to go from one place to another. I was charged the price for two despite being a solo traveller via Booking.com
The onsens were fantastic, they have a Lawson konbini on-site, there’s a Shinto shrine and lookout point that you can go to that oversees the sleepy town. Do check-in early to enjoy the fantastic ocean view form the onsens before it gets dark. Go to minimum 3 onsens for its stamps and you get free bath salts. They give complimentary local tidbits which were heavenly. Hotel staff can speak and understand decent English and they have coin laundry on-site. The boat ride there was fun

Australia1) Far location if you are staying in Osaka. Make sure you book JR train in advance. Hotel has ferry to pick up / send back to pier which was convenient (free). 2) Not much other attractions in the area, can consider visiting Nachi mountain area. 3) Price not cheap although worth the money.
1) The onsens, especially the ones in the caves, absolutely amazing and worth the visit. 2) Buffet dinner + breakfast. Food was good and plenty of time for you to eat. 3) Very large venue. Room was comfortable (for those who can sleep on futons.) Great view of the harbour. 4) Gift upon visiting minimum 3 of the 5 onsens. 5) Very relaxing vibe.
