Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

TaiwanUnfortunately, the breakfast did not have vegetarian options. One has to inform the hotel a week ahead for special diet arrangement. Most restaurants near the hotel were closed at night in that area, but luckily we found a chain restaurant 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
The atmosphere was very peaceful and the lounge was small but lovely! I loved the public bath and the bath cloth/shoes which the hotel nicely prepared for everyone.

United StatesYou must use bus or taxi service. The last bus from the station is 16:45 and the first bus to the station is 9:20 am. Taxi costs 1100 yen one way. Bus stop is 3 minutes from hotel. Walking is treacherous in some areas as the road narrows and it has intersections you must negotiate. No laundromat in hotel.
All of the staff were very friendly. By the second day most everyone knew me. The food was well prepared—good presentation and delicately seasoned. The room was large and airy. Located next to small farms and Horyuji temples , the atmosphere was rustic, quiet , and peaceful.

United StatesWe wish that we would have known that we had to make reservations for dinner on the property as there are very few options in the vicinity.
A 10+ on the wonderful warm, welcoming, professional staff, the comfy, very clean & well appointed room. The Japanese breakfast was a new experience, delicious & plentiful with great attention to service. We loved the complimentary 2 hour Temple tour provided by the hotel even though it was in Japanese! And our evening communal baths were wonderful with 2 selections…one green tea & one with infrared stones. Hope to go back around the world to it one day!

ThailandAir con in the room kept shutting down, could be from the setup of remote control which we could not read japanese.
Privacy ,cleanliness, clean quiet onsen. Location close to the temple in 1 min, we can't speak Japanese but the staff recommended us to book English tour online in advance. Volunter guide Nakao came before the appointment time waiting for us. The temple in the late afternoon really impressed us.

CanadaNo security on East building. No stuff at the entrance, no key locks during day time so anyone can enter the building. No bus service after 17:00 from the nearest station no taxi is waiting at the station so we had to call a taxi. There are only two taxi companies but one of them told us their service finished at 19:00. The hotel should have offer the shuttle bus service when it is so inconvenient and far from the station.

Hong Kong1. Meals need to be pre booked and I wish they had added that information on the booking page as it was a bit of struggle to find a dinner place around this hotel.
This is right next to Horyuji temple and thus 13/14 km away from Nara town centre. Nara has limited public transport so getting to this hotel is bit of a hassle. Lot of shops/ restaurants around this area close early so even finding a dinner venue ( which you may need if you dont pre book meals at the hotel) is bit tough. What I did like: 1. Right next to Horyuji Temple, 7th century temple. I was planning to skip the temple ( I came from Kyoto!!) but as it was right next door so I decided to venture it. Spent 3 hours inside the temple complex, a very memorable experience. Must visit for those who like historical sites. 2. Peaceful and clean place, rooms were comfortable. It has nice small onsen. 3. Staff: While language was a barrier but staff was very helpful.
