Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndonesiaNothing that the hotel can change, but just a little thing (not an issue). There are 2 buildings connected by 2 corridors, which makes it a little confusing to find your way around in the beginning.
The place is big. We booked a smaller room for a couple but got upgraded to a twin room, which is much bigger and has a shower in the room. Free soft drinks throughout the day. Comfortable relaxing areas and some with views of the garden. Free milk and other refreshments throughout the day near the foot bath area. A little garden where you can sit and relax. Free beers from 7pm till 9pm. 2 free private onsen inside the building.

United StatesThere was little to no vegan/vegetarian food for breakfast and dinner. However, upon request, the chef will make you something. The shoes they provide were hard on the feet.
There was free beer, whiskey, coffee, tea, soft drinks and snacks. The ly provide a yukata to wear around the hotel. The grounds are beautiful and it's close to the train station and open air museum. 5 min walk. Also, there is a massage chair and a Manga room with English and Japanese Manga. Finally, they even have a private onsen in addition to public onsen.

United StatesNothing, everything was wonderful.
Wonderful stay! We booked a condo suite, which was large and comfortable, with a spring-fed tub that had forest views! Great breakfast, and the location was perfect--close to the Gora train station as well as Gora park and some shops and restaurants.

United KingdomLarge groups of people enjoying free alcohol in the quiet zone/library meant it was very loud. In general quite crowded hotel with bus loads of people staying. Breakfast finished at 9 with last entry at 0830 which was quite early - on the last day the breakfast rolls run out and we were told we could not have any. Dinner in the hotel was comparatively expensive at 7600yen/person for buffet style.
We liked the on site massage therapist and the room we had was nice and big. The courtyard area was a nice chilled zone. Liked the manga library including English language manga. Location was convenient for the bus and train.

AustraliaBreakfast was slightly disappointing. Lots of choices but many things were only warm when I expected them to be hot.
Dinner was excellent with many choices. Second floor area with food and drink was greatly appreciated. Close walk to station and a number of the attractions.

CanadaHotels rooms in Japan do not offer wardrobes, commodes or enough coat hangers. So be prepared to keep your clothes in your suitcases. They also offer very limited amount of towels.
This is a beautiful hotel. The lay out is quite interesting (but not the most appropriate for people with disabilities). The room are very spacious especially for Japanese standards but the most basic of all the hotels we booked at this price point. Bathroom was small in comparison and outdated. Has a fridge, spa robe for the onsen and sleepers, beautiful kimonos for adults and kids. Breakfast was very good, with many options. We really liked that in the main lounge area which a big gorgeous space, overlooking the garden and surrounded by sitting loung areas with a library(loved the deco) , they would serve free drinks and snacks twice per day. The outside onsen was so sirene and the indoors was big and well equipped. We had a room on the same floor so it was easy to visit as you have to wait on a sitting area outside until once is free every 30 minutes. The whole Hakone area is gorgeous, picturesque and you have a lot of things to do and visit. It is a place which we could have stayed more than 2 nights. One of our most memorable stays in Japan.

United StatesThe second floor of the condominium building did not have elevator access. We took the elevator to the third floor then walked down a floor with our luggage to get to our room.
We enjoyed the beautiful library and free drink stations. The condo rooms were spacious with comfortable couches. The location was convenient to many forms of transportation with a flat walk to the station and convenience store. We also enjoyed the breakfast and dinner buffets. There were many choices and all were clearly marked with allergens symbols.

Hotel has nice amenities, has complementary drinks and desserts, staff is friendly, rooms are large and comfortable. Hotel also provided umbrellas because it started raining

Big room, super nice amenities inside the hotel, private onsen and public ones, plus a nice library with comfy places to read, sweets and drinks. The beds are traditional but with a mattress, so if you have bad knees, take into consideration, very comfy but low in height. Very close to the train station and ropeway to go to the lake.
