Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThere is nothing in particular that I don’t like. I’m not a huge fan of how you can’t eat in these little hostel units but I do understand why.
It was very quiet when I was there and the reception folk were very easy to work with. They helped me with laundry (because it’s just a regular household machine, not the common pay to use ones you find in most hostels,) and helped me find good ramen close by. The pot tub was amazing! I think that was my favourite bath I’ve ever had. The fact that it is free is so lovely and I couldn’t recommend Kinoya higher. Oh and the little closed dorm bedroom thing was much much better than others I’ve used. It was bigger and I think it had some kind of air filtration. It was very good.

TaiwanThe renovated room in this old house gives off the feeling of a traditional Japanese house. You can experience Japanese objects such as tatami mats and traditional bathtubs, as if you are walking into a Japanese anime scene. Although it is traditional, it is clean and tidy. The owner is friendly and happy to provide accommodation assistance. If you need to use the bathtub, you need to book it with the owner in advance. It takes some time to clean and prepare the water. Overall, it is an interesting accommodation experience for foreigners. Plus, The room is located on the second floor of the house. There is a shared kitchen and bathroom on the first floor. There is a convenience store and a supermarket nearby. The nearest train station is a 5-minute walk away.

NetherlandsVery close to high way and you hear every car passing all night, all the time. So, need proper ear plugs. Bathing is only upon reservation which is a bit odd. I’d highly recommend to find a way to make showers more accessible at all times without reservation.
Japanese style Ryokan, clean and nice feel.

GermanyTatami is not the most comfortable thing to sleep on, but it’s traditional and should be like that. Just an western thing to sleep on very soft beds.
Very nice and Cute traditional Hostel/Hotel. We wanted a traditional house to stay in and we got the full experience. We would definitely come back! Private onsen/bath/shover has to be reserved, but it’s not a problem and very nice.

GermanyThe area around is quite an industrial area, you can feel the trains or cars rumbling and the smell of the wasteplant? around isn’t really nice.
It’s just right around the Shinkansen-Trainstation so really convenient, it’s a beautiful traditional Japanese House and the bunks are pretty, spacious and really nice. The area is not touristic so you won’t run into other tourists and you can catch a view of Mount Fuji almost everywhere around. Coming to the hostel after an exhausting day the hour in the private bath was the most relaxing thing! Staff is super nice and the place is really calming and nice!

JapanNeeded to reserve the bath time. It made me inflexible to move around there.
Traditional Japanese house is renovated for using as hostel. Accessible from Shin Fuji station where is Shinkansen line. As it’s facing the industrial road side, it’s a bit noisy but if you can sleep in some noise, you may enjoy staying.

United StatesNothing, so far as I could tell. It was great.
Property is perfectly close to the station. Due to not fully understanding the trains, we had a super late check in, but the staff was still awake and super accommodating. And let me tell you, when he offered to get the small tub going, I could not resist and immediately got to using that. What a way to melt away the stresses of an 11 hours of traveling between plane and train. Sleeping on the tatami futons that first night I won’t soon forget. We were checked out only a mere nine hours later to start climbing Mt. Fuji but it was a great stay and would stay there again in the future.

United StatesLack of A/C, but it's also a converted home in the countryside. I was fine for a single night even in the summer.
Location literally couldn't be better. Staff very friendly even with my limited Japanese. You do have to schedule your bath ahead of time but they give you more than enough time to soak.

SingaporeBeing right beside the train station, the shinkansen/bullet train can be very loud all day. There was also siren of ambulance pretty often even at night. You can also hear the movements, voice and sounds of your neighbours next door. The sliding door of the room also doesn't closes fully. Also, it was my mistake for not asking but I had no idea where the shower room was because there wasn't any other shower room except for the large tub and pot tubs haha.. but overall it was an enjoyable stay.
Lovely accomodation! The location is very very near the Shin-Fuji station, about 2min walk. The staff was really nice and friendly. They explained the facilities and showed me around during check in. There is also a Family Mart Convenience Store right in front and can see a Macdonalds down the road. Also love the tub that they prepared after I made a booking. Really fancy! The room was also what I imagined, a Japanese room almost straight out of an anime! The toilets were shared but were very clean. The reception area also served like a living room where there is a kettle, coffee, tea etc. There was also a lounge/reading area with my mangas and books free to read. I really enjoyed the ambiance and environment.
