Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe water flow of the sink faucet in the room was very very small, and no hot water. We ended up going to the 1st floor public onsen to use the sink faucet.
Great view of Fuji Mountain (if the weather is good!) Dinner quality is good! Roof top hot spring has fantastic view.

United StatesOnly thing is location which we had to rent a car to get to. Otherwise, a 10/10 experience.
Private onsen had a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji while in the bath. The room was a traditional ryokan that was so pretty and cool to experience. The dinner and breakfast meal we added on was so filling and delicious!

United KingdomA bit far from central (Kawaguchiko) so need car hire. But that’s what makes it worth it for unobstructed Mt Fuji view. The bus runs 4x a day to Kawaguchiko. Bus stop is just outside the hotel. There’s one bus to Shin Fuji for Shinkansen just need to check timings.
The best unobstructed view of Mt Fuji from the room and onsen!! Room is spacious, daily housekeeping, fresh yukata and toiletries. Automatic toilet. Tea set and nice chair and table by the window. Traditional dinner and breakfast were delicious!!!

United KingdomNothing we didn’t like.
This is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. My boyfriend worked at 5-star hotels in the past and even he said the service at this hotel was impeccable. We were very lucky to see Mt Fuji from our room and the private onsen. We also loved the traditional Japanese room, the dinner and breakfast selection and being able to wear the yukata provided by the ryokan. Definitely the most authentic Japanese experience of our trip. We wish we had stayed longer than just one night. We will be back at this ryokan every time we visit Japan from now on.

AustraliaHad to be mindful of the bus schedule as transport to and from the hotel can be tricky, especially if it's snowing. Staff were very helpful with making sure we got on the bus after check out so it all worked out great.
Obviously an amazing location for viewing Mt. Fuji. Right at the lakefront and a hike to a lookout nearby, we were lucky to get an afternoon with clear weather before it got snowy. Outdoor onsen with a view was amazing even if Mt Fuji was covered by clouds at that point and the breakfast and dinner served at the hotel was great. The room was spacious and very comfortable with a lovely view. Even if we didn't get to see Mt Fuji at all, it still would have been a very nice stay

SingaporeRoom was quite dated and toilet area was old and worn. No shower or bath facility in the room I was in, but we showered at the common private bath you could book at the rooftop for free. Even though we arrived to check in at 3.30pm, some of the premium sunset or sunrise slots were already taken up.
Loved the traditional ryokan dinner and breakfast. Dinner was quite extensive. There was a choice of beef or pork, with fish/prawn sashimi and many other fanciful side dishes. Staff was very friendly and approachable. Mount fuji view from the room.

SingaporeLocation wise a little far from the town, best is to drive to come. The property a little old..
We love the place, serene and have best view of mount Fuji when weather is clear. The place also offers kaiseki dinner and hearty breakfast. Also the free private onsen for 30mins for taking photo with Mount Fuji backdrop.

SingaporeThe onsen is not natural hot springs and had a slight chlorine smell.
I really enjoyed the dinner meal, had a whole range of interesting local food that I have not tried before. The view from the room and onsen had an exceptional view of Mount Fuji as well. It is a small, humble and cozy stay. Although the building is pretty old, it is still extremely well maintained.
