Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Japan・The room wasn't locked automatically. I think they should explain about it when check-in. ・There seemed to be no brochures or other information about surrounding tourist facilities. ・There was no sign in their parking lot, so I wasn't sure which parking lot was theirs unless I asked. ・There were only a few trash bins available
Clean. The recreational facilities are well-equipped.

FranceThe dorms doors had their own issues (wobbling against the entry frame, no handle...). Otherwise the sound proofing between rooms is weak, same for windows when it's windy. Sleeping at 5-6 in a tiny room can be tuff altho the hostel is far to be busy.
The place has it's style with some vintage furnitures and greenery as decorations, there's a computer area next to the reception, a piano, pool and ping-pong tables, bikes to rent. It's wide and homely, you just have to enjoy the « as is » aspect of the building. The diner area on the second floor is well provided with ustensils, fridge, microwave, rice cooker, seasonings, etc... And there's a konbini two steps from the hostel. When it comes to the dormitories, they were not busy so I could sleep alone most of the time, and the beds were fine to sleep in. I'll keep a good memory of the stay.

AustraliaThere isn't an elevator so having to climb up to the 4th floor was a bit tiring after a long day, however we managed. Also as others have mentioned, there are only thin curtains which we didn't like. One night it was very windy and the building was very loud.
It has a cool vibe, although its the off-season so it was very empty when we were there, also rarely any staff. The beds were comfortable and our room was very spacious. Parking was also super easy and convenient.

Hong KongEven there's enough space in the dorm, they enclosed the bed with wood wall makes access to bed and sleeping inside a bit hard. It was frustrating when using the hot water during shower.
Easy access to bus stop, local supermarket, convenient store and beach.

United StatesThe only complaint we had was related to the windows in our room. It was quite windy, and the windows would howl and slam all night long. Not enough to deter us from staying again, but it did get annoying. We found by slightly opening the windows to the balcony, we could reduce the howling noise.
Very unique, fun property. We thought it was cozy and a great location for spending time in Yanbaru National Park.

JapanOver all our room was clean and bedding very nice but it could have used a little more detail cleaning in the seating area and coffee table. The shared fridge could use a good cleaning as well. But over all the place is clean and nice.
Loved the shabby chic environment, decoration and how it was set up. The welcoming host was great. Beds were super comfortable. We got a family room for 2 people with a private shower room and really enjoyed the space and balcony. I would definitely stay again or recommend for friends to stay if they are in the area. The beach was an easy walk and nice for watching the sunset.

AustraliaWell, it's a hostel with potential to accommodate very large numbers of budget travellers so the kitchen facilities can become overcrowded, overused and less clean than desirable. Also the noise can get pretty loud what with youngsters arriving late and clambering up the concrete stairs very late at night. Definitely the party atmosphere which may not be to your taste.
Great place to stay in the off season. Pool table, table tennis, communal kitchen all great as long as there's not too much competition...see below.

JapanDefinitley be careful with the ladders in the rooms, they aren't attached and can be tricky to use a lot of the time. Also, it was pretty windy when I went up and the building definitely did not do any job at suppressing that noise. A touch spooky, but nothing to be worried about.

JapanStaff was not really available. No blinders in the room. The ac in the shared kitchen was not running and therefore it was too hot to spare your time there. There should have been a bar and cafe but due to missing staff there was no offering… The roof terrace was more or less empty and therefore it wasn’t possible to enjoy the starry sky. Table tennis, billard and boulder facilities were not in there best state.
