Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIt's a pity that the "a la carte" restaurant wasn't nearer, because a 5-course menu with raw fish, seafood and different types of meat every day is a bit too much!
Large, elongated resort with several two-storey apartment buildings, two hotels, indoor swimming pools (sandy beach outside the resort) and several restaurants on an island connected to the mainland by a bridge, 45 minutes by bus from Nagasaki Main Station (free shuttle bus and public bus (line 30) for 610 yen, both several times a day), or about 30 minutes by car. Airport shuttle from Nagasaki Main Station to Nagasaki Airport every 20 minutes for 1200 yen (cab very expensive!). The resort is geared towards families with children and dog owners. Very quiet, but a little out of the way. You can explore the island on free bicycles. We had a nice spacious room in one of the apartment buildings (first floor) with a large terrace right by the sea, a large bathroom, very comfortable European-style beds, two Japanese-style futon sofas set into the floor in front of the TV and a desk. We had booked breakfast included (very good buffet), but not half board (dinner), which was a mistake as the only "a la carte" restaurant was at the very end of the resort 1.5 km away and you may not get a table reserved for the (very rich) Japanese 5-course menu (25 EUR per person) in the restaurant near the apartment without advance reservation. The buffet dinner in the nearby hotel costs 50 EUR per person, and it is a long way to Nagasaki for dinner! Very friendly staff, almost exclusively Japanese guests, therefore sometimes communication problems.

JapanThe reception staff provided limited answers to my questions and could have better explained unique aspects of the hotel, such as the bike culture (where guests swap bikes upon stopping, taking the nearest one, and the policy of not leaving items in the basket to avoid them being taken), and the Minato Spa (where guests mainly wear pajamas and relax on rocks, but the staff failed to provide any explanation or offer pajamas for use).
Everything!

SingaporeNot really. The only thing I regretted is not allocating more time to enjoy the facilities.
The Onsen was great, be it the smaller one in garden area or the one at spa. There are others facilities (cycling, lounges, kids land) to enjoy, make sure you allocate more time, not just a sleepover. The shuttle bus was quite frequent as well, don't really need to drive our car to and fro between different parts of i+Land. Food was great too, set dinner and buffer breakfast, we enjoyed it.

SingaporeProperty is quite old. The illumination show u have to take the hotel shuttle bus. We drove there but were told that we cannot park there.
This resort is great for families. There are many activities like the sports hall where you can play many different sports, free bicycles to cycle around the island or on the pavement beside the sea. 3 different onsen areas, albeit being in different locations and u need to take the hotel’s shuttle bus or take a slow walk. If u dun mind paying, there is ATV etc too.

United StatesWe booked a room for 4 guests, so we assumed the extra futon beds folded in the room were included in the price. The beds were plenty big for us and our girls, so it wasn't a problem, but considering the futons weren't part of our room rate, we would've appreciated them being left out of the room so we could utilize the built-in closet instead. They took up a lot of room and we didn't have anywhere to store clothes during our stay.
What a perfect little slice of outdoor heaven in Nagasaki! From the moment we arrived, staff was nothing but over-the-top helpful. They bent over backward for the entirety of our stay to make sure our family was comfortable and felt taken care of - from hand-delivering towels, calling us transit, even packaging up a special breakfast treat for our daughter to-go. The property was very well-maintained, with the bikes and play area being huge draws for our young family. The Arkland Spa was a great place to play in the water (the water temperature was excellent, even during winter) and we truly loved the Island Lumina experience. We enjoyed western breakfast at The Terrace very much and would recommend it over the Japanese option for both breakfast and dinner.

SingaporeSpent 15 minutes driving around finding the correct location for check-in in the dark.
Staff were incredibly helpful, assisting with check-in close to the cut-off time of 8pm, showing us the correct directions, and offering umbrellas and direction for Island Lumina. The check-in area had a microwave, much appreciated given the isolated location.

Australiamy wife couldn't grab the last sweets at 10:05am during the breakfast when the food had not been collected, she was told off by the staff. we understand that we were told to get all the food before 10am, but the food was still on the table, so she thought it was ok. But the next day, other people were still getting food at 10:10am and it was fine.
the onsens are exceptional, the convenience shop opens late and has food, snacks and drinks. the room is spacious.

United StatesWe didn’t realize that nothing would be open at 23:00 so we missed dinner. There isn’t really any nearby stores open either so you need to make sure you eat before stuff closes.
The floor bed was amazing! I never knew I needed this until I tried it out. The bed is also very comfortable and I wish I booked two nights just to get more time with floor bed! Breakfast is also very nice there is a western breakfast and a Japanese breakfast. We chose the Japanese breakfast and it was delicious!

United StatesTheir bus on the way back to the station. It was smaller bus and the driver was bit upset to take our large suitcases inside. On the way there, the bus was a tour bus, which had the storage area and no problem. Also, their website says coffee is free from several locations. But some were not operating due to low season. Others were only available from 10am to 3pm. These are just coffee machines coffee. Though, these are small things. We enjoyed our stay so much.
Large room, breakfast and dinner, nice bath, sauna and pool

United StatesI hope the hotel will give us better instructions on the exact location we need to park and check-in. The resort has multiple hotels and sites and they are quite far away from each other. It is a 40 mins drive from Nagasaki city center. It is good or bad depend on your itinerary
It is a resort with a large footprint on a small island near Nagasaki. A lot of local families vacation there. The Japanese breakfast was great. A lot of varieties to choose from. Since we go there in November, it is kind of windy but I think in the summertime, it will be lovely.

TaiwanI was a little surprised there were no elevators to go up to the guest rooms on the 2nd floor. The staff was very kind to help us move one of the luggage. If you can, you should ask for the room on the first floor. Also, we were waken up in the early morning because of the sudden heavy rain and the roof was very loud.
Thanks for the staff who can speak Mandarin. She introduced everything well. We didn’t use the facility but enjoyed the serenity of the island very much. I also enjoyed the Japanese-style breakfast very much. Room space was very satisfactory. I like the design of the bathroom. The water pressure was very good!
