Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing, it was all good.
We had a comfortable stay at this hotel, the manager was kind enough to let us make changes to our booking, which we really appreciated. The hotel is located in a very quiet area, near the cable car to the mountain and tourist information centre.

SpainNot really good value for money, as it is quite expensive to stay here, though the location is worth it. Also, if you want to store your luggage before chek-in or after check-out, the only option they give you is to use their coin lockers. This is the first time that I encountered this, and it seems a little unreasonable to me, given the large amounts of space that they seem to have at their disposal. In the end, it's not that much costly, but when you are already paying for an expensive room, this doesn't put you in a great mood.
Big, spacious room in an amazing location. There's also a nice onsen with a small outdoor area as well. I really recommend visiting the nearby photograph museum if you have the chance.

AustraliaNo housekeeping during our 2 night stay and all replenish were left outside our room. We needed to make our own tatami bed from the 1st night and so on. The buffet breakfast and dinner were below standard, we felt like eating the leftovers.
Private onsen, massage chairs and location closes to tourist attractions.

Hong KongAlthough dinner and breakfast were offered at an inexpensive price, the quality was ordinary. I would rather better quality is offered at a slightly higher price.
The onsen is good. Staff is friendly.

Singapore1) Issue with private onsen? The gender-specific onsens were enjoyable...but the private onsen (which can be booked in advance, 1 hour slot per room per day) was wayyyyyy too hot (approx 50 - 55deg?). Although we approached staff for assistance (perhaps due to the limitations in language?) there was nothing we could do to fix it.... We were told to add cold water to the onsen tub (however this cold water tap had very slow flow of room temperature water, and there was no way it will cool the rest of the tub of water down). It was just disappointing as we had a long hike up Mt Kurodake in the rain...and we were looking forward so much to this private onsen together.... 2) Food provided and the time limit for eating (1 hour) We had full board (breakfast and dinner provided). We stayed there 2 nights - each dinner was a variation of hot pot. 1st night had 3 different soup base (with thin slices of meat + raw veggies provided) and the 2nd night was sukiyaki. Not much variation but we were looking forward to perhaps something more elaborate (based on the photos on booking.com). There was also other varieties provided at a buffet table. Food was still decent, we were very full from dinner. We also wished that we could have more time eating... If I'm not wrong we had a 1 hour time limit. If a customer exceeded this duration, they'd be charged 2500 yen for next half hour. As customers will need to cook the food in the hot pot/sukiyaki, perhaps 1.5 hours is the minimum to properly enjoy the meal. We felt very rushed on the two nights when we were there. There was a wide variety of alcohol like beers/ whiskey/ shochu/ fruit liquers etc, which can barely make up for the abovementioned lapses.....
the location is excellent as it is within walking distance to the Ropeway up into the National Park. It also has its own carpark which was very helpful as we rented a car. Facilities were clean and decent and were within expectations.

United States* Breakfast ends at 9. Last entry at 8:45 am which is super early. * Water pressure in the onsen shower is very high and not adjustable! It’s literally painful to use it. * Guests have to prepare the futon bed by themselves! I’ve stayed in multiple ryokans and none of them ask guests to self-serve.
* Convenient location. * Private onsen that guests can reserve and isn’t too busy.

JapanThe staff refused to let me leave my bag for a couple of hours on the day I was checking out. They said that there was not enough space (absolutely ridiculous since there was space everywhere and they let me leave my bag before I checked in - when they still didn't have my money). They told me that I would have to pay to use one of the lockers (most of which were not big enough for my bag). I find this kind of attitude completely outdated and I have not stayed in a hotel in the past 15 years that would not let me leave my bag after check out. The check in also took more than 15 minutes (even though I was the only person) with the woman who was checking me in giving me really strange looks and reading the rules to me three times. In the end I had to tell her that I understood and could I please have my key and go to my room. I didn't feel welcome at this hotel. I felt that the only interest they had in their guests was in terms of the money they pay to stay.
The hotel is in a fantastic location. It also has an onsen that is free for guests to use.

BelgiumAt the breakfast buffet I have to say I did not like the egg options: the scramble had a weird texture to it and the boiled eggs were undercooked so I added them to some warm rice to cook them a bit further. And secondly I have to say I had some trouble communicating with the staff, which is of course in great part due to the fact that my language skills need some work, but also slightly due to the fact the staff seem unfamiliar with how to adjust the way they speak to a non-native speaker. Less formal expressions and more easy everyday words would have been a lot easier. But it all worked out in the end!
The room was nice and it came with a lot of great perks, like a karaoke room you can reserve for free, a private room with hot spring you can reserve for free, and of course access to the regular public hot spring. I also got the breakfast, which was an extensive buffet, lots to choose from.
