Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesBreakfast at Komeda's was good. We did not know we had to sign in on the wait list so we were just standing outside for a long time. Guests should be advised to go into the restaurant and sign in for service. There was a long line of people outside. Another service we liked was that the hotel held our luggage while we made two overnight trips to Kumamoto and Nagasaki. That was very convenient for us since we did not have to take our luggage with us. We checked out and checked back in to a different room each time.

CanadaThere were several long black hairs near the bathroom sink when I arrived (not mine, I’m bald:), as well as black hairs on the bed, the desk, and around the shower. I don’t like to complain, but the housekeeping team should be more diligent in making sure the room is properly cleaned for incoming guests. Very unusual lack of attention by Japanese standards. The blinds in my room didn’t work and it was difficult to sleep because so much light came in. The staff were apologetic but there was no maintenance person on site to fix it (?) and I wasn’t offered any compensation whatsoever(complimentary breakfast for example?). I guess 990 yen was too much for the hotel to spare for a guest having a broken room. The only option given was to change rooms to a different floor, which would have been a huge hassle since I was already fully unpacked. The blinds were eventually fixed, 1 day before check-out. When a guest experiences such deficiencies during their stay, the staff should do more to make the guest feel comfortable and appreciated.
First, Ms. Le is outstanding at front desk. Very professional and welcoming. A world-class employee to have. The room was exactly as I requested. High floor, away from the elevator, with a great view and an extra pillow. Perfect! This hotel did a great job listening to my requests. Loved the coffee and filtered water in the lobby and the dehumidifier in the room. The room was small but had everything you need, including a fantastic power shower. Location was fabulous. Very close to the metro.

PhilippinesOnly one flat pillow, tried asking for another one but none available. No restaurant in the hotel, just an adjacent coffee shop.
The staff were very polite and helpful. Room was clean and well-maintained, with good facilities. Location was okay, close to Daimaru and subway station. Sleepwear provided.

United StatesThe shower stall needs to be cleaned. There was mildew growing on the floor of the shower, as well as on the shower door and shower door jamb.
We loved the location of this property; the close proximity to the train station, convenience store, underground shopping, yatai, Canal City and the airport. The majority of the staff was extremely nice.

The origami made by the staff to be given to guests as a keepsake is something so small yet so thoughtful and wonderful. Thank you so much!

Hong KongWhat I didn't like about the hotel was the lack of amenities, and the automatic light that turns on when going to the bathroom; certainly wakes you up!
Conveniently located near both train stations. Tenjin and Tenjin-minami. Convenient stores are close and plenty of eateries nearby. Walking distance to Canal City Hakata. Room was spacious, clean. Bathroom larger than most hotels. Windows can open. Bed was comfortable.

United StatesThought room was to be bigger, that's why we upgraded to Standard twin but was still small. Thought because was a western hotel company, rooms would be a little larger. Although it was fine for what we needed, just a place to sleep and bathe. Was just hard to unpack and pack daily so we could have more room for 3 of us.
Breakfast was good, but menu was same choices for all days we stayed so got a little stale. This was because we were there for 1 week, only 5 different items from selection for breakfast included.

SingaporeThe housekeeping was not really up to standard. The carpets were dirty and dusty. We could feel it staying there as our throats and sinuses acted up.
Very convenient location. Few minutes walk from the underground shopping street. Also a short walking distance from Hakata. 20mins from the airport by train. Love the cheap laundry facilities.

SingaporeThe walls are thin so you can hear your neighbours if they are noisy. Street noise can be a problem on lower floors; I was on the 10th floor so not really troubled except for occasional police sirens. The breakfast is not a buffet but a set of egg, drink, and bread, choice limited. But there are other options in the area so it's OK (for example can walk 15 minutes to Yanagibashi Rengo Market for seafood).
Great location in Tenjin, near to the subway and buses, with a 24h Lawsons nearby, and Daimaru and the Tenjin Underground Mall minutes away by foot. Komeda's Coffee is in the same building. Love the complimentary coffee and tea machine in the lobby. Room was compact and the bed was very comfortable. Only one pillow provided but Reception provided more on request. Amazing shower, the best I have encountered in a long time!
