Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The location was perfect for Talek Gate - few minutes walk from Masai Mara Nature Reserve. Owner, Magdy is very knowledgeable and a wonderful host - ensuring you have the best experience. He was able to source a great driver, Jonathon, who gave us a fabulous safari experience ! Food tasted very good and was plentiful - with breakfast and lunch on the go,if needed. Fantastic experience.

United KingdomPacked breakfast and lunch could be improved, although Cynthia's samosas are the best in Kenya! To be honest, we should have been more specific with our food requests and I am sure the kitchen would have obliged.
We chose Greenwood as it was recently mentioned in both Lonely Planet and National Geographic as the BEST budget camp in the Masai Mara. It didn't disappoint! The location is perfect, only 300 m from Talek Gate. Our Family Tent was excellent including the resident hippo on the first morning, and the baboons even joined us for breakfast! The staff are extremely attentive and escorted us back to our tent at night. The bar area is a delight and we ate there as well. Service was attentive. If you go on a game drive try and get a local Maasai They know everything, and our guide Jonathan Tira is unbelievably brilliant. He found animals in places no other guide would find. His knowledge of the area was exceptional. His choice for breakfast and lunch stops are breathtaking. Your guide can make or break your trip. Book Jonathan..... We also booked everything through Magdy, including a driver to and from Nairobi. Magdy, the camp owner is communicative, informative and efficient. He even joined us on a game drive which was great!

United KingdomWhen it’s raining the wood fired water heating for the shower doesn’t work, so the shower is cold.
Lovely staff and owner, who all made sure our needs were met. Safari was easily organised through the camp which was a big help to us! We had breakfast and dinner and both were big meals. There are many animals and noises in the camp but the rangers are around all the time to keep you safe!

GermanyI had a wonderful stay in this safari camp next to Talek. The meals were almost excellent and very tasty and the tent is almost comfortable, even during a strong rain shower. You can book several tours and safaris around this place. I would highly recommended Greenwood safari camp, if you like it, to be close to the animals.

United StatesMaybe one thing I would have loved would be a real filtered coffee in the morning instead of an instant one.
I loved my stay in Greenwood. It is in a peaceful setting off the road, so at night you hear only the birds and the river next to the camp. During the day I saw antelopes, wild pigs, Vervet monkeys and baboons pass right through, it was like a mini safari without going anywhere! The tents are comfy, some have verandas with seating and all are on wooden platforms and with roofs over - really well set up, as they don't get hot during the day or wet during downpours. Each tent has outlets to charge phone/camera right next to the bed. The set menu dinner I tried in the restaurant on site was good and almost too much food for me. The showers had hot water every night and were always clean. There is also a swimming pool with loungers to relax. The camp is located minutes from the Talek gate to Maasai Mara, so we were among the first ones in the park without having to get up super early. The safari organized through the camp was great! They gave us packed breakfast and we stayed at the park literally until closing. And last but not least, Magdy (the owner) was really nice, he helped me even before I arrived to figure out the transport and was always around to make sure things were running smoothly.

SwitzerlandSide note: if you are traveling on a tight budget you can find much more affordable accommodation (and very basic) in Talek town. There are local food options in town too.
the location is great, easy walking distance to the park-gate. We booked for a tent but the owner upgraded us to a bigger one without extra charge. There is hot water for showering but not towels. Friendly staff, we got a 10$ discount for the safari as we were only two people. The included breakfast was rich and enough.

PolandIt's not about the camp in particular, as we liked everything about the place. We arranged the safari through the camp, and while the experience was unforgettable, our driver and guide was rather on the quiet side and seemed quite tired so it's just something to consider in case you'd like to learn more information about the park and animals during the drive.
Location: The location is gorgeous, literally around the corner from the gate to the Masaai Mara. At night you hear a symphony of animal sounds in your tent. But don't worry as there is a man patrolling the grounds to make sure everyone is safe. Camp:The whole camp is lovely, it's a very well maintained green and lucious area, super relaxing. You'll will likely see quite a diverse range of animals within the camp itself, we saw plenty of warthogs, dik diks, antelop, baboons and even some hippos in the river down below the camp grounds. What was really special was seeing a big group of monkeys pass through the swimming pool area as we were sunbathing. Food: The food was delicious, portions were very big and the cook catered to our vegetarian diet. Staff: The owner Magdy was very helpful and responsive, from arranging the transfer from Narok, to safari and any other smaller requests we had like e.g. towels. On top of it, he was nice to talk too and one can see he puts his whole heart into running the place and he is a great animal lover himself. We really appreciated that he went out of the way to show us zebras after our Masaai village tour! Thanks Magdy for a wonderful experience! A special shout out to Noemi, for being so attentive, always with a smile, bringing us umbrellas when the rain started falling.

BelgiumI think this place might be a bit basic if you aren't used to camping, but this is of course part of the experience. For us this was no problem, but you should be aware of the travel style you want. We had a shared bathroom, and this is nothing to be scared of. The bathrooms were extremely clean, as were the tents. I loved this experience. However, if you are not really into camping and more into "glamping", I would suggest choosing the tents with a private bathroom.
We were amazed by this extraordinary experience. We were welcomed with open arms by Naomi and Philiph, while the owner Magdy was still on a business trip. The check-in went smoothly and Naomi and Philiph were extremely hospitable and catering to our needs. It was emphasised that they wanted us to feel as comfortable as possible. The food prepared by Naomi was exquisite. We had dinner every evening of our stay and it was always fresh, plenty, varied, ... simply everything we needed. We are vegetarian and vegan, and this was also no problem at all. The breakfast was also lovely and easy to take away on a game drive. Magdy was extremely helpful in booking a game drive with the best driver imaginable. He also helped us find a driver to bring us to our next location (Amboseli, which was quite far). This drive was very reasonably priced and we felt very safe and comfortable with the driver Magdy arranged for us. Philiph also took us on a small promenade to see hippos nearby and this was also a very nice experience. In conclusion, this was by far our favourite place to stay in our two weeks itinerary in Kenya. We felt at home because of the wonderful people we met and we would love to visit again. This place as well as the people we met here have a special place in our heart. We wish them all the best and invite everyone to meet them as well! We hope to come back!

We arrived from Nakuru and reached Sekenani gate which is on the other side of the reserve. In any case we had to cross the reserve to reach our stay. Our driver was very callous and he even did not know the way to that gate. However I had the information from the owner of the property the alternate way and had to hire a local Masai person who taken us to the property for a charge. But in that case also we had to cross the reserve entering into it. The owner is a nice person who booked safari cars for us, Masai village visit booking and all petty things which we asked to him. We had a very good interactive session with him which enlightened us about the socio-economic condition of the place in particular and the country in general. The service personnel working there are nice and caring also. The food served were excellent. Last but not the least, one guy of our team encountered a hippo while returning to his tent from toilet at late night and it was a wonderful experience. You will get a good guide and friend if you stay there for visiting Masaimara.

IndiaThe food was average and the water pressure very low, but that is to be expected in the middle of the Mara
We spent 2 nights in the cottage here. It was spacious and had a good en-suite bathroom. They provided us a car and driver for safaris. Alex, our driver was incredibly helpful and knew all the best spots to sight animals! The camp is 5 mins away from talek gate which is very convenient for quick entry into the park! Had great sightings of several lions, 3 cheetahs, a leopard, many hyenas and jackals, some hippos, and lots of antelopes, gazelle, giraffe, deer, warthogs, wildebeest, etc. There was a swimming pool on the property which looked great, but we didn’t have time to use. And all the staff were very helpful and pleasant! It is much cheaper than surrounding lodges and camps and hence do not go there expecting luxury. But it is clean, well maintained and in a great location for safari drives!!
