Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyWe don't really have any negative points. Just book the place!
We highly recommend staying in Wolyeongchae. The owner Sugi is very nice and helpful. She arranged the house in a very comfortable way (as the pictures already suggest) and it's very clean and neat. Sugi provides many necessities like water, tea, coffee etc. and she gives you advice on places to visit. The location of the house is close to the center and bus stop right outside. It's quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed the coffee in the mornings sitting outside the house. If we come to Andong again, then we would definitely stay there for another time.

United KingdomThis is a lovely place, the host came out to meet me at the bus to make sure I found it OK. She also had lots of useful suggestions on what to see and also how to get to places, which was really useful. The accommodation felt like a traditional hanok, and the woodwork was really beautiful. A very peaceful location.

A really nice stay in an authentic Korean Hanok. We rented the whole house which was spacious, very clean, with breakfast facilities and underfloor heating. The host was nice and helpful and they provided loads of information of what to do and how to get around the city. Would definitely stay there again

United StatesNothing.
Wonderful host, gave us great advice what to see and how to get there. It's a very charming place. Originally, I thought it was close to the bus station, but there is a new and old station. This is close to the old station, so it was actually quite a drive by bus. But it allowed us to see a good part of the city - hence ok. The house is really charming and the host offers a lot of teas, coffee and snacks. There is also a sitting place in the garden to relax. The room was comfy and warm, and the whole house has a nice traditional vibe. We were only for a day in Andong, but enjoyed the stay a lot.

CanadaYou do have to share the common area with another guest and the host, so if you are uncomfortable with this arrangement the place is not for you. We really enjoy visiting with other tourists and talking with Sugi so we enjoyed the whole experience.
The Hanok was a really nice and comfortable place to stay. Sugi, the owner was so kind. We had a nice chance to visit with her and she even bought us a pajeon we had never had before and enjoyed some makgeolli with her. She was full of information and made us feel welcome and at home. I would definitely recommend this place as a comfortable place to stay that is not a hotel.

BelgiumA bit far from the city center, but taxis are cheap. We had a room with own bathroom, however the bathroom was not attached to the room -‘d we had to cross the common area, which was a bit weird.
Very comfortable and typical stay in a Hanok. The owners was super sweet, we had water, coffee and even snacks at our disposal

AustraliaWe thought the coverlet on the bed could be a little larger size, although there was an extra coverlet in the room so we could have had one each. Also there was no flat / top sheet but this is quite common in South Korea.
Sugi was a welcoming host, and very friendly. She walked down to the bus stop to meet us. Spacious bedroom, very clean, en-suite with an excellent shower. Rooms are well insulated, but also plenty of sliding doors for fresh air if needed. The Hanok is very homely and well set up with a little kitchen / lounge area guests can use. Sachets and pods of coffee provided, as well as tea bags, snacks etc. The walk into the centre of town is only 20-25 minutes.

AustraliaNot so much what could have been better but just to note that: - the property is small with all rooms facing in towards a shared courtyard, and there is that shared sitting room space. The host is a lovely lady who is really helpful; she is also in the house during the day pottering around and also using the sitting room space. That was not a problem for us but just be aware you will not necessarily have private space if there are other guests around, apart from your own bedroom. - the property is about half an hour by bus from the local bus terminal (but very easy to find even if you are not met at the bus stop!). At night there is very little to do around there so you need to hop back on the bus for about 15 mins to get back into the central business district.
The property is a refurbished hanok or traditional Korean home. But the beds and bathrooms are Western style. We booked a room with a private bathroom. When we arrived we were shown our bathroom which was across the shared sitting room space and separate from our bedroom. But later on another guest cancelled and the host put us into a room with a proper ensuite which was much better. If such things matter, best to check ahead as to what sort of privat bathroom you are getting. The shared sitting room space was lovely with a mini kitchen, tea and coffee, lots of snacks and cold water in the fridge. Wifi was good and there was aircon in all the rooms. The little courtyard was lovely to sit in for coffee in the morning. The host was really helpful with transport directions and even met us at the bus stop when we arrived, and accompanied us back to the bus stop when we left to make sure we got the right bus.

United KingdomThe property is very spacious and the owner, Sugi, was extremely kind and helpful and suggested us a perfect itinerary to visit Andong and surroundings in the short time we had available! Also, since we had quite a few luggage and another room was available, she was kind enough to allow me and my friend to stay in two separate rooms - which was very comfortable!! There is a bus stop conveniently located 3 mins walking from the guesthouse, with quick connection to the city center (alternatively it’s a 20-30 mins walk), as the guesthouse is located in a quieter and very pleasant area of Andong.

ArmeniaI wish we'd booked two nights and not just one, didn't have a chance to look around really. I wish host offered traditional breakfasts even if as an extra option, it would've been really nice. The sliding door into the house gets kinda stuck. Given that it's probably older than my dad, I wouldn't really put that as a negative, you know, but the other pair of guests really struggled with it, so I suggest it could use a bit of love.
This is an actual old house, or hanok, of classic Korean heritage. How can it get any cooler than that? It was really cute and got these vibes like you're actually in the countryside as a kid, but for some reason you're a Korean kid. Bed was nice, the host is stellar. Just the best. She was in contact with us the whole time and gave us a lot of instructions to find her home, which is tucked away inside an old town, but is really just a throw away from a bus stop.
