The property was around 2.5 kilometres from the city centre in a calm area. Despite booking an 8-bed dorm, I was given a 12-bed one. I was fine with this and never voiced any complaints. It was on the top level, the largest room in the entire hostel, and it was quieter than the room adjacent to the front desk. Every day, the room is cleaned by the housekeeper. I stayed for 9 nights, and the bed linens were changed as requested. The hosts, Alex and the girl, were both fantastic.

Toilets should have water sprays to clean after pooping. How can ppl clean after without those!!!

Staff were incredible, especially Alex. Even the lady, but most of my interactions were with Alex who was very helpful.

Not sure whether it’s because the large number of guests, staff are a bit fuzzy about the trip i sign up for. Despite that i let them know i can only do day-trip 2 months ago, they still took me taking 2-day trip. When one of the staff told me to wait for 40 minutes for the refund, i ended up waiting for an hour (till 1 am) but the staff did not show up. The management is a bit messy. Having said so, they are willing to help. If not for them, my day trip would not happen.

As most of the people do not speak English, it’s good to find some people who can speak English to stay with. The hostel helps to arrange some English guided tours, which is definite helpful for arranging day trips.

there are 2 bathrooms and in total 3 toilets. sometimes it gets crowded.

it is nicely located. have open yard to sit in morning and evening (can have more chairs though). staff is very helpful, Dariga and Bogden speaks English and can guide for local places and tours.

what can you expect with those prices. but mayeb a better pillow and a towel. i woke up early so no one was there and i didnt find ant towels. there was but its good to have one by the bed so its easy to just go and shower.

its what you expect, dormatory but it seems very well managed and guests are not that wild, its no party groups coming to Almaty.. easy, cheap and good english speaking staff. This was what i expected so its perfect.

There is this guy from kzstan who lived here for quite a long time i think,he's kinda harassing girls,it's not just me feeling this way，And to me for example,even if i really could not take it and clarify my ground directly when he suddenly came up and sitting next me and i said that "i don't like you,sorry "and i walked away. Or"i don't wanna talk to you,don't talk to me",the next minute,he followed me down to the kitchen and asked if he could eat my food that I just cooked without any invitation, And ！he broke into the women's room at midnight like nearly 1 am ,asking if i want to dance with him,he can teach me how to dance..excuse me！！！why is this guy still allowed to be here？？I've already tried my best to avoid him,ignore him and be silent to him, he seems really abnormal,he couldn't understand neither explicitly nor implicitly & sarcasm! Really feeling unsafe when he's been around.

I was very confused when i reach but once i talked to the manager and seeing the interior my mind got cleared. I spend 3 days here. They have white sheets which are ironed and very very neat. Pillow n bed were very comfortable. They have iron box and hair dryers.

Almaty backpackers is the perfect place for solo travellers. I met some amazing backpackers here and the hostel has a really friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The staff and volunteers are all super lovely and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

The kitchen is a little small, and when a lot of people gather, it's a little cramped. Since the building is large, on the first floor where I slept a little cold, slippers are on a deposit basis.

Great place to stay. Owners of the place and inhabitants helped me very much with the situation that I've got myself in on my first day. Also the place is located in a very calm area of the Almaty but in a proximity to all interesting places.The building itself is quite large, so there is a lot of space. Wi-Fi Works very fast.

There are only two bathrooms, one shower head, there are queues in the morning, the Russians or Kazakhs in the boys' dormitories are too noisy, they are up at 1am and nobody cares

The location is also ok, and it is convenient to walk by subway or take a taxi
