No sidewalk on the street and a lake in front of building during spring thaw. Small lounge area. Limited work space in kitchen only. Cash only - no credit cards accepted.

Quiet residential area. Firm sturdy beds. Laundry for 500 tenge. Central location. Nice stay.

Although hostesses can be tricky with English, I really enjoyed my stay, it was -10 outside, but inside was nice, hostel is equipped with all that you need as a backpacker, and stores and food is just down the street, working in all hours. A 10 from me.

The cleaning staff of this hostel behaves like school teacher. They need to be taught customer service by the owner of this hostel. The hostel feels more like a homestay. It feels as if we are staying in the house of the staff of the hostel.

We stayed there during a time several teenagers stayed there, and for that reason the internet was turned of. Pretty inconvenient I would say. Also pretty hard beds. This is nothing too much to complain about though.

Kitchen worked well, the bathrooms worked well and had enough for several people to use it at the same time, clean, good value for money.

The WiFi was awful. The only communal space is the kitchen really as the living room only has space for 2 or 3 people.

Bed is not tooooo comfy, but still ok

+ the location is great (everything you need is nearby) + quiet area, but the city center is in walking distance + the owner is superfriendly + there is hot shower with good water pressure + the WiFi works great + there are enough plugs to charge your stuff + the hostel is clean + there is free and secure parking + you can even pay just about half the price and sleep in your van in the secure parking area, but use the hostel facilities + there is a kitchen + you can do your laundry

For this dorm (and the entire hostel), you have access to 2 showers, with hot water, 3 toilets and 3 sinks, which is quite standard in the area. It was not an issue at all for me, but you might experience some waiting time during peak hours.

I booked a bed in a 10-bed dormitory. The dormitory is wide and large enough, so you do not feel packed at all. The bed is a bunk bed, large enough, with a fair enough good mattress (soviet style). The bed comes with its own plug socket, light and locker. For this dorm (and the entire hostel), you have access to 2 showers, with hot water, 3 toilets and 3 sinks, which is quite standard in the area. It was not an issue at all for me, but you might experience for waiting time at peak hours. All were clean. Towel is included. You also have access to a fully equipped kitchen, without oven. The common space is a bit limited given the size of the hostel. The WiFi is good. Located in a quiet neighbourhood, within walking distance to the city center. 500m away from Cosmonauts St for drinking/food options. 1,600m away from the bus stop of line 10/12 going/coming to/from the airport. 2,000/2,500m away from the city center. The staff (Aïgul and Zarina) is very friendly. Aïgul speaks good English if needed. I would definitely recommend this place for a short or a long stay.

Communication with Hostel administration prior to arrival and during our stay was nothing else but perfectly smooth. Thanks to Aygul and Housekeeping personnel our stay was memorable. Always clean kitchen and washroom area gave us an absolute satisfaction. Thank you for a great hospitality. P.S. : Street (Cosmonauts street / Ulitsa Kosmonavtov - in Russian) full of various cuisines are just 5 minutes walk away. ($ - $$$ budget)

Hostel not-to-dos for those guests who forget they are not home: Don't be too loud, respect others' right for quiet Don't talk loudly on the phone Don't walk around the hostel dripping and towel wrapped around your hip. Towel malfunction is a thing. Don't hang your underwear, socks and whatnot in the common dorm. There are racks for that. Can't find them? Ask the admin. Don't cook after 11pm. That's against the rules and OSHA. Kitchen is for cooking and eating only. There is a dedicated facilty for bathroom rituals. Washing your hands, gargling your mouth, brushing teeth etc. is not to be done in the kitchen. Walking around barefoot looks silly for a grown-uss human. Use slippers. Don't expect 5-star hotel treatment or amenities from a budget hostel. Be thankful for what you're already getting for so cheap.

As always, the best hostel in Astana.
