Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandWhen we wanted happy hour cocktails, the bartender didn't show up for 5 or 10 minutes, then had to go somewhere outside the hotel to buy ice! Cocktails were ok but didn't have much alcohol. Room service forgot to clean our room. Cleaning not so essential but new toilet paper and bottles of water would have been nice. The long tail boats heading past morning and evening are pretty loud but the hotel can't do anything about that.
Pool is great. View of the nearby mountains a real pleasure. We were able to order a bus to Vientiane with pickup at the hotel at the reception, very convenient. Breakfast with fresh made eggs or omelet was very nice.

United KingdomThe terrace by the pool needs some attention- more and comfortable furniture. No loungers!? Hammocks are not comfy. Hardly any shade. The chairs to the table by the bar did not fit under it - very uncomfortable.
The location is fantastic but you do need to book a river view room to take advantage of the scenery, The rooms with balcony overlook the pool and river and karsts. The room itself could do with updating and the door was malfunctioning- took brute strength to open when we were leaving! The breakfast was great- a variety of fruits, cereals, made-to-order eggs, bread. Can’t comment on the curries! The staff organised transfers and excursions all done well. The yoga classes were really good and well worth the $10.

United KingdomThe Silver Naga could do with refurbishment but we knew this in advance as it was our 2nd stay.
Comfortable bed, good breakfast and great location. Pong was extremely helpful in arranging tuk tuk transfer from the train station and advising and arranging things for our onward journey to Vientiane.

United KingdomAs with other reviews, the rooms are tired, so if it’s honeymoon perfection you want, this maybe isn’t for you. But if you want a great base and don’t mind the buzz of long tail boats cutting up the river - and are happy to get out and about everyday, this is a perfect spot. Pool area is also nice with a view of the mountains.
Superb location. The twinkling corridor of hotel steps are literally an extension of the night market (rows of stalls selling textiles, T shirts, tours, tasty food and drinks). Room has a beautiful view of river and karsts. You can see hot air balloons sailing off every morning. Vegetarian buffet breakfast varies every day and the team does really well: curries, stir fries, freshly cooked omelettes, bread, cakes, fruit etc. There’s a warm welcome from the catering staff. Yoga class is fantastic and runs at 7.30am/ 5pm. A very professional class on a pay on the day basis- knowledgeable and genuine teacher.

AustraliaWe had a few ants that turned up in the bathroom no big deal as they were coming for the sugar from a spilt drink. But it's Asia and to be expected. .beds are firm to hard but still got a good sleep.
The location and the views from the rooms are simply stunning. .the staff were really helpful and booked our train tickets as well as the paraglider. It's not a 5 star hotel but the value for money is great. The pool was nice and cool. Breakfast was terrific and fresh. Aircon was good overall really happy with the hotel and would stay again. Vang vieng is definitely a must see destination

GermanyWe booked a normal room "without view." But when we came into the room we were a little bit shocked. It was a very dark, sticky room which doesn't have a real window. This definitely didn't felt like a place you wanna stay for a few days, especially if you paid as much as for this room. So we talked to the hotel and after a short discussion they offered us a room with a balcony and view for just a little extra charge. This room was much, much better and welcoming. It's a bright room, with a nice bathroom, beautiful balcany and a good view on the river and the mountains. But also this room was very run down. The entry door had a big gap, the furnitures were old and at every end there was some door you couldn't close or something which fell off if you touch it. But with this room we were pleased! When we arrived they told us, that there will be no breakfast buffet as we booked which annoyed us because it was one of few reasons why we booked this hotel. We should chose a lunch meal which we would get for breakfast. So we did, but I told them that is not really what we wanted to have. A few hours later they told us that there will be breakfast buffet which was actually the case. So to sum it up if you book this hotel take a room with balcony and view or leave it and take another hotel with a better price-performance ratio.
The hotel employees were endeavor. They were very helpful for example with booking a train ticket etc. But some of them are not speaking English well which led to some misunderstandings. The hotel facility with the terrace and the pool looked very nice! But if you come closer you see that the hotel had its best days already. It definitely needs an renewal. The breakfast was okay/good.

United KingdomThe pool wasn't very clean so we didn't go in which is a shame. Our bathroom was dirty too. They should throw away all the random chairs and broken water machine etc in the corridor.
The view was the reason we booked this hotel and we weren't dissappointed. It was so nice to sit on the balcony in the morning (before the hundreds of motor boats start) The hotel is in a wonderfully central location - right in line with the night market which is perfect for dinner.

United StatesThe city is a little over priced but that’s expected in a vibrant tourist area. The exchange rate they use for credit cards is very high, so be prepared to pay cash.
The location is excellent, the pool is very nice except there was an open electric lightbulb socket, just above the entrance ladder to the pool, which could be a little shocking experience. The views are really nice.

LaosProperty is tired and in need of some maintenance ang freshening up. The ancient AC units take an hour or so to cool the room down. Bathroom looks like one from a $10 guesthouse. Ground floor bathrooms filthy. Fridge tiny and barely functioning For just under $100 for a family room this is poor value compared to newer properties in town.
One of the original Riverside hotels before vang vieng became spoiled by unplanned over development - so nice view from front rooms

AustraliaWhere do I begin. The room was extremely dirty, and website photos didn't look like the room at all. There was an unlockable door to the next room that I had to jam shut with an ironing board, mould and grime in shower + bathroom, toilet was running non-stop, had to hit the cistern to fix. I didn't actually sleep at all, kept the lights on as it did not feel secure or safe, and didn't dare go inside the bed.
The only positive was the staff let me cancel the second night without charge.
