The glamping was very hot and unfortunately the fan did not cool our room. We were there on an extremely hot day though.

This hotel was well run and a very cool glamping experience. Customer service was excellent. We were very hungry one night after a day at the safari and the manager had the buffet set up a little earlier for us which we really appreciated. The staff made is very simple to organise trips and taxis.

Athgira provided a great base for the Udawalawe safari and they alao organsised the safari for us through their own company. this was an excellent service. However there is not alot to do other than the safari and if you have an early morning safari (5.30am) you are back by 10am leaving a whole day to fill in a hot and humid jungle location. The pool however provided great respite.

Athgira provided an authentic glamping experience in the jungle and the team went out if their way to make it a great stay

The only downside was that a small fridge and an electric kettle were missing. Also note that there is no air conditioning in the tents.

We had rented 3 standard tent rooms and stayed here for 2 nights. In general, we were very satisfied with the stay. The staff acted friendly and welcoming. The rooms were quite excellent, even if the tent cloth bears the mark of many years of wear. The bathroom was ok and there was hot water and a good shower. It was nice and clean everywhere. The breakfast was a buffet and it was quite outstanding. For dinner, we tried both their barbecue and a la carte dishes. Both parts were excellent, but it should be noted that the prices are on the high end. There are two excellent swimming pools. All in all, we can recommend staying overnight at Athgira River Camping.

would suggest creating more space, or adding more sun loungers around the pool as there are only x4 sun beds and which we weren't able to use the pool facilities as it was full

Excellent food buffet, had lots to offer from traditional sri lanka to western dishes and everything was delicious. the ground are lovely. we had the standard tent which was basic, but did the job.

Tents could do with updating as there were some holes. Sometimes there were groups of staff which felt a bit over bearing. Appreciate the willingness to help but was a little much sometimes. Need to offer something for mosquitos outside I.e a candle / citronella spiral - they are everywhere and we got terribly bitten. Had to ask for anything additional ie 1 toilet roll for 2 night stay and we noticed other guests also doing the same thing.

Great location close to the national park. Friendly staff , helpful with any requests that we had including the chef who catered to my gluten free requirements brilliantly - he was thorough and made some lovely dishes it was much appreciated . Nice clean rooms. Good swimming pool.

The staff were warm, attentive and organised. We were impressed by the BBQ and breakfast buffet cooked by Suganthan. It is worth paying a little more for a garden or river-side tent.

There was nowhere to sit to eat/ drink from the cafe except the reception area which was very dark. Wi-fi wasn’t great.

Fabulous peaceful setting surrounded by vegetation. The thatched tents were lovely. Two pools were a bonus and the staff very helpful. The hotel safari was good value but book a volunteer guide at the park entrance to accompany you in the jeep to get the best experience.

The breakfast selection wasn’t great and the first night we were there they had a buffet for dinner my husband loves the rice dhal and curries but I couldn’t find much to eat. It’s not near restaurants so it’s the only show in town! Some of the staff are strange. Again they told us wait in reception for the early morning safari and the guy was waiting for us at the main gate!,

Beautiful location, the accommodation is very good very comfortable beds and good shower. The swimming pool I loved a very relaxing place to spend an afternoon. We did the early morning Safari which I really enjoyed.

Its quite a way out of town and far from the national park which is really the only thing we can to do. The tents were quite close together, not especially private. Our tent at the front was also disintegrating a bit.

The on-site pool was lovely. Breakfast was good, a big buffet, omelette station,e ect. Dinner was also a buffet, it was also okay. They organised an excellent safari for us - 8000 for driver and jeep (not including park fees). The room was fine, but nothing special. The beds were comfy enough. There was a fan in the room.

The restaurant is not exceptional. The dinner buffet is not outstanding, the breakfast buffet is poor. There is no chair in the tent, so when .it is raining, no seat available

The tent is confortable and big. We were not lucky with the weather, our experience would have been very good with a sunny weather

We stayed for one night at the end of June 2022. The staff are amazing! They are very attentive and went out their way to set up a special candle lit/fire torch dinner for us. The food was lovely and we were given a variety of curries. The pool is a great size and gets lots of sun. The tents are a good size although we only had one working light in the bedroom. They also have fans for at night. This is a glamping/camping experience and you can expect to see bugs. I did have a spider on me in the middle of the night, which did scare me. There was a frog in the toilet but remember you are basically camping! I didn’t have a good sleep as it was quite windy but it is a camping experience. This is a good experience for one night to pair with a safari. Although expect to see bugs and it may be warm to sleep in.

the food was delish but expensive, and you’re probably gonna have to take it since there are no other restaurants around.

the tents were super cozy, but it is glamping. super nice forest area with a cute pool. helpful staff as well and easy to book the safari at the hotel.
